The one thing I would look at is if DOT pulled you over, would you pass an inspection with the trailer. You have it on your tractor, its' yours if you are pulling it and you get a bad inspection on it. Your CDL, they should have you get it fixed if you are not able to get it to a terminal.

I never had a good experience with roehl's maintenance dept. It seemed that they would skimp and try to save money on the most ridiculous stuff. I always dreaded having to call them when I worked there. Though the maintenance dept at my new company is better but not by much lol

This is pretty much the criterion I use. Don't want CSA points.

You got one of the oldest trailers in the fleet. One that will be sold shortly. They really don't want to repair them if you can get by. No doubt at least the last 5 drivers didn't want to take the time to either report the problem or try and get repair. The old pass the buck-not my problem. If you are caught by scale/DOT with a bungee holding your pigtail to the trailer socket it will not go well for you. Stick to your guns and if you don't feel it is safe to pull a trailer then tell them that. It will be your CSA score to take the hit and maintenance will not feel a thing. It takes a bit to build up a working relationship with road maintenance over the phone. Call in enough on stuff they then get the idea that maybe you are doing your pre trips and know something. They will actually start to listen to you. Being female, I had to work long and hard to get maintenance to listen to me but now after 3 years they listen and actually will authorize work on my word. Over the last 2 days I have pulled 2 trailers in a row with the ABS light on. Thought it might be my pigtail but today's trailer everything was fine. Called both in for them to log in the system. Nothing else to do out here since it takes getting into a terminal to fix but I did notify of the problem.

This was one thing I never understood at Roehl. They never wanted you to fill out the DVIR when there was a problem. I thought that is what it is for. I guess it was to much work to update it. Where I am at now they want you to fill it out. Even for simple stuff like lights you can't fix yourself. I fill it out and I get a message telling me where to go and get it repaired. My experiences with maintenance there wasn't too bad except for the time they tried to get me to drive the truck to Gary from Mogadore with a pretty bad oil leak. Once I mentioned I didn't want to get hemmed up by the DOT for it they changed their minds and I went somewhere in Akron to get it done. Lol! I know I red tagged a lot of trailers when I was there.

Only one? You're good to go as long as your next stop is at the nearest repair facility.

Most likely if the trl was empty everyone bypassed that trl until you picked it up and took the time to repair. My most recent endeavor was 2 days ago. I delivered in PA live unload. Brand new trl air ride air slide the works infant trl. Got message saying drop that one in Bensalem and grab another for repairs, then go get my load after repairs. Repairs not being in the same yard where's the trl shop is, that'd be too easy. Needless to say I disagreed quit well. After back n forth had no choice. So I go to bensalem, trl wasn't there, oh it's in jersey still. Next morning drop my good trl to swap out with the other. Shipper refused to load it. Driver that dropped it there with a load drug the lines. So wiggle my way to trl repair shop, wasted 4 hrs.

On the road depends on who you talk to, some helpful and get it done. Other one in particular wants you to be Johnny on the spot repair man douche. I could list a lot of limping around, repairing all sorts of things myself or to be fixed. Your lucky we have a lot of newer trls now and being sold off. Bottom line it's the fat $ they want to save but stupid play calls actually in the end costs them more IMO as well as driver pay. There will be more to deal with trust me on that. The ones here might do the right thing but the others thinking about themselves are the ones that bite you in the ###.

Not when your leaving a trail of rubber, and a piece wrapped around the axle. Plus I have had an inside blow and take out the airlines. Nope not moving it.
