Just made it to the Atlanta OC. Whew, what a night. So many morons on the road tonight. Had this one ####### in a suv who had his brights and bright fog lights on that felt it 100% necessary to stay right at the rear of my trailer, but would not fall behind and would not pass, one lane over to the left, which put all of that straight into my eyeballs. Changed lanes twice to try to get him to #### off, but nope, he wanted to stay right where he was. Finally got over in far right lane and layed on the brakes and he finally decided to go on his merry way.
285 around Atlanta was another joy... at least it was moving fast though. But not fast enough for Fedex who I kid you not must have been doing 70MPH, double trailers all over the lanes like a kid pulls his toy truck on a string. I don't understand how these guys never get stopped for driving like idiots. I was going to ask what the difference between the green "Ex" and red "Ex" was on some of the trucks, but I have just come to the conclusion that the green ones put their trailers into the median, and the red ones put their trailers into the ditch.
Got a preassignment to take a relay up to the Charlotte OC... I'm wondering if this will be my last load as a company driver. I asked to get back for a some hometime before I leave out on the 2nd, but my DBL is out till Monday so they put in the request but said it may or may not work out... who knows. Squeezed into a spot here at the OC, time to get some sleep.

Lol this is unreal. After sitting for 3hrs in fairless hills I decided to just end this ridiculous day. Of course, right after that they send me a load assignment. Bobtail 60 miles to pick up an empty when I'm already at the drop yard with a bunch of trailers. I'm tired of calling in and complaining about their incompetence so I follow directions. Show up at the place and of course, no empties. Go to a truckstop and shut down for the night, send in the exception, grab something to eat, come back to the truck and the box planner states in a message to go back there and check if there are any empties. Seriously, I think the box planners are retarded.

Yeah I just don't get it. Every trailer I have seen has that GPS tracker thing on the front which if you look inside also has a camera so they can SEE if the trailer is empty or not.
So why do we get sent to a home depot to a trailer that is FULL of crap?
Why do we get sent to places that obviously have NO trailers?
Why do they send us AWAY from locations that have several usable empty trailers to other locations that *might* have an empty or might not?
I don't get it either... see if they can get you a load out of there. That area is such a craphole, hell the whole Northeast is a craphole when it comes to Schneider's customers, fuel stops, drop lots, etc. etc. Just a complete and total waste of time. -
Lol going to assachusetts of course. Oh well, my days are numbered anyway so they mine as well send me to Poland springs if I ever even get this load

We'll they've got me a load heading to the Charlotte OC. Hopefully this will be my last one as a company driver, I want to end things on a good note! I am supposed to message my DBL tomorrow and hopefully hear back from her, she was off when I tried to contact her about my truck being ready, and she works from home on Sundays so who knows if I'll get through or not.
Delivered to Decatur, GA this morning, then headed north to my pickup. Arrived to a line of trucks right at around 1200. I did not leave this shipper until 1830. Good God. It wasn't too bad of a wait though, tons of other Schneider drivers there to shoot the #### with so the time passed pretty quick.
Will finish up my run to Charlotte tomorrow morning, and go from there.Kutina Thanks this. -
Good luck DF, you rock my brother. Im pretty sure you could make it with any company you set your mind to runnin for. why not just for giggles think about JCT . at least read the thread runnin with JCT. It might help even if ya dont switch. run hard !

But thats just me...has not been an issue as of yet!!!BossOutlaw88 Thanks this. -
DF, you'll love the IC world. While I was at Schneider I've heard nothing but good things from them. The major part to it is to stay at around 65-68MPH to get the best fuel economy.

Wow, a week later, (on and off because i have to work, and get stuff done around the house) I'm done reading this thread. Holy Crap DFO!!! i feel like i've been on an adventure with you all over the country!!! this thread has seriously opened my eyes to the Day to Day grind and I'm still really looking forward to it! i laughed and "holy ####, wtf'd with you) waiting to hear back from my bank on the financing for CDL school. my credit is good, so i'm hoping to save ~1500 dollars + a lower interest rate on CDL school.
Really glad i started reading/caught up with you at the point you're at now and will be following your IC Thread closely, I'm 27, single with no kids....so a little older, but in the same situation as you when you started. only i have a veteran OTR trucker (15+ years) in the family i can call for advice. but IC is what i plan to do also after i get some time under my belt. only difference is i have the credit to bring in an outside truck.
I've been doing a ton of reading on TTR for the last month, some lurking before i made an account and am looking at SNI and USX as the two companies to be considered.
Going to have to do weekend classes, because i work full time for a transformer manufacturer. so I'm probably looking at january before I'm done with school.
only making ~26k a year (with overtime) and there's no career future for me there. Can't wait to get started on a new career!!
This thread has been awesome and i hope you do great in your own truck brother! good lord do you deserve it! you write really well. I can't wait to read more of your adventures. Thanks so much!!dieselfuelonly Thanks this. -
