Ok, so as everyone else knows it speed is essentially what swift is not known for. But for the times that you would need to slow down, SLOW DOWN this isnt a race and no load is worth speeding over.
now the majority of our fleet is...newer than most others so its understandable if you cant get it into a parking space or dock on the first go around. So get out and look or ask for help. Theres no shame in asking for help. You aint got nothing to prove un less you wanna be known for smashing drivers front bumpers in.
next is something that is known as common courtesy. No swift driver that i know of or seen has shown this. I.E. Youre passing someone who is maybe a half mile slower than you...so instead of hogging the road for 10 miles, slow down behind him until he either gets off at an exit or slows enough to let you pass. Reach out to the driver via CB radio and ask if he can slow a bit to let you pass. Again theres no rush because no load is worth your life or a fine.
pre-trip...big time. Always pay attention to your truck. Does it pull a bit to the left or right while driving, does it feel a bit squirly in the tail end etc etc. check everything. I see a lot of drivers that just sit in their trucks doing their "pre-trip". Its bs is what it is.

    get out and look.

use common sense and common courtesy.

    slow down.

and above all, get off your high horse because you dont own the road. Youre the same as everyone else. Same eighteen wheels same thirteen (or eight) gears same capacity of weight as everyone else. Youre not special.

and above all else...GET OUT AND LOOK!!!

anyone have anything else to add please feel free

Tapeworm has one going also, who happens to be a ex driver and now a DM. Go through a couple of pages and you will see many topics regarding this.

Terrible. As a driving shareholder of this company I feel it necessary to inform you that you are not welcome here. While what you have to say may be true on all accounts your credibility is lackluster at best take a hike or a greyhound if swift is willing to even pay for it after that sad performance displayed above

Say what you want, my credibility is what you make of it, however my want and desire to share information should show that i do care to some degree. Did i leave some things out? Why yes obviously i did because i had hoped that other drivers would share an experience or two to help other swift drivers ( or possibly other drivers from other companies) to have information like this that not all mentors share with their students...yes i am still regarded as a new driver but it doesnt change the fact that at least im trying to do something about the way some drivers act on the road. Like everytime a preventable accident happens or a service failure all the down to the nitty gritty of customer service from is drivers. So instead of being a criticist saying that i have no credibilty, why dont you just help out with what i and apparently another swift driver is trying to accomplish.

This is funny because IT IS OCTOBER 2013. You have 0 freinds and for the life of me i can't find who gave you a thanks. To bad you think we are all bigbelleyd and i guess stupid aswell. To be honest if i found who gave you your 1 thanks and why I would not even write this post. This makes the 9th post on this thread and as I said before I did not disagree with anything you had to say only the way you said it. Luckily in post number six as directly quoted above I can call you out. No other swift driver is trying to pull up your black flag as of this point. You can't edit my post and i have quoted both of your posts. Step off you are only making things worse for yourself and impressionable newbies.

Also Ex Driver since your not a driver anymore what was your Driver code?Very simple thing to hand out if its retired and your not using it anymore. Especially since if you have been with this company for less than a few years it is just a number anyway. Very much unlike us old school'ers whose names were our DC's. Answer that or don't respond to this post.

In the 1st post, late 4 a date, L84AD8, gave the thanks, but they are also new to the forum and did not post a reason why the thanks.

I also don't disagree with anything posted by BBT, but it does state the obvious that has been posted here many many times.

I do take exception to being called non-courteous in regards to not having the patience to wait before passing a similar speed truck. BBT, just because you have never seen it does not mean it doesn't happen. There are nearly 16,000 of us Swifties out here. I doubt that you have seen even 3,000 of us.
