I've been waiting 4 weeks now to get into orientation. I finished CDL school October 2 and had a per hire for maverick at that time. How many glass trainers does Maverick have? What is the normal wait time to get into orientation? I'm beginning to get discouraged waiting for orientation. I've had TMC, Melton, and McElroy call me many times to come work for them. I had per hires from them as we'll. Am I making a mistake waiting on Maverick?

4 weeks is not unusual when waiting for orientation for glass, it's a smaller division with less trainers.
If you got an invitation to orientation from Maverick, you beat out some pretty high odds. And Maverick starts out really high for glass on the pay scale - .40 for students, and you'll be at about .46 within a year.
Good luck on your choice, but Maverick is worth every minute of waiting. I can't imagine being treated better anywhere else.Rigbuilder Thanks this. -
I think that if you wait, you will be SO GLAD with yourself for sticking it out. It takes awhile-especially for glass division- but there are good reasons why that is. I could not believe how good the company was when I got the chance to go to NLR Orientation. Been here 2 years (flatbed).

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to continue to wait for a trainer to come available at Maverick. They were my first choice and from what I've read I'm making the best choice.

Alright, alright. #1- ya need to get used to waiting if your gonna be in the trucking industry. #2- starting pay, for glass, is .40, at 3 months it jumps to .43, at 6 months it jumps to .48! You won't find ANY other trucking company with those wages! Period! #3- I think it shows POOR TASTE for drivers of other carriers to say other companies are better than Maverick, on a Maverick page! Just my opinion friend. If you wanna jump to some other company because of the waiting period, well, that's YOUR mistake to make. I have worked for a different carrier before Maverick. It doesn't compare to what Maverick has to offer. Use this time to READ THE POSTS ON THIS THREAD!! its a good way of "doing your research" on this company.
