Is there anyone on here that is knowledgeable on the job market in this area? Is $3000/week viable or unsustainable on an annual basis? What are the hours one must work a week to make this amount? Also how much a $/week is considered normal pay. If the differential is too small, it may not be worth the risk.
I read some articles/videos online about some people making $4000/week, but this was several years ago.
Is Walmart still hiring at $17/hr ? I don't know too much of the details. I like to go by that old adage: If a deal seems to good to be true, it probably is. -
i'm loving reading about your adventure, ss. you go girl

Do Not work for an O/O in the oil field. You will most definitely be a 1099 driver. You will not have any of the protections as an employee and you will not be covered under workers' comp. I was making $ 3,000.00 a week as a company driver when I first got here. You can do that too eventually. Most people new to the oil field do not stay long term with the first company they work for. Gain some experience, become familiar with they kind of safety mindset for working in the field and you will see the opportunities that are out there. At this time in the business, get on with an established company and get the experience.misc Thanks this.

Williston Walmart was starting at $17.40 when I asked over the summer.
These big pay jobs, you'd better like the work because you'll be doing plenty of it. My goal is to find something I don't hate because I absolutely love to get back home, and, to get back home with the cash to move mountains. I'm investing, fixing up my place, picking up the tab, going and doing things...that's when I'm home.
I check the local Craigslist and the jobs pay half or less. And, in trucking, you're likely gone all week, if not OTR- you aren't home anyway. I've been choosing amongst jobs paying about $25/hr plus OT and apparently with plenty of work. I'm going with a percentage job, however.
Again, find something you don't hate. I kind of liked sand, had a good run this summer. Water sounds like the least fun, and winter will be least fun of all, I'm sure. If you don't hate it, and you can come up with something like 3 or 4 weeks on, 10 days off, that's pretty good. In many ways that's better than a local job that gives you a week vacation after a year. -
that surprises me that walmat pays $17. consider they were the only decently priced store in the state. average with the rest of the country.
but, then again. cost of living is outrageous out there. -
Is there any mancamps in Texas?

Yes, many employers in S. Texas offer some type of housing but the conditions vary. It's not as common in West Texas though.valbarr83 Thanks this.
