Every single question is different with each school. The votech and community colleges are usually cheaper
Chinatown and bigdaddy2389 Thank this. -
Yes, look at community college, vocational-technical schools are much cheaper and as good as any.bigdaddy2389 Thanks this.

ok community colleges sounds good, but do the trucking company recruiters go to the schools? do they do own testing there instead of going to dmv or dot testers?
-
Can't answer the DMV question.
As far as recruiters, sure, some will probably show up. You won't have to settle for the usual suspects! You will have many, many good opportunities for top companies other than the mega-refrigerated carriers. Stay on this forum and you will have a good plan and job by the time you graduate.bigdaddy2389 Thanks this. -
Most accredited schools have their own testers and most companies hire from an accredited school. You have to play the matchmaker game. I originally wanted to send my wife to a course that was 320 hours and $2500. Problem is the company we are at didn't hire from that school. Her only option for our area was roadmaster. Class was 180 hours and double the price.bigdaddy2389 Thanks this.

Roadmaster performs all the necessary skills tests on campus. The tuition is high and the trucks range from junk that could never pass a PTI to fair condition trucks. They provide you with the minimum skills necessary to obtain your CDL in three weeks time.
Mniesen89 and bigdaddy2389 Thank this. -
Be careful.
Accredited means almost nothing.
Any school can claim to be accredited.Chinatown and bigdaddy2389 Thank this. -
I don't know where in fl you are located but I went to Mid Florida Tech in Orlando. I applied for financial aid and only out of pocket cost was about $300 and that was for books, parking permit, school ID, medical card, the actual cost of the cdl. It's 320 hours so about 2 months and change. Monday through Thursday 7-530, I know people that went to TDI and roadmaster and no disrespect to them but they were amazed at all the things they had us do that they did not. Before you graduate you have to drive 1,000 miles on the road. Great experience and instructors are all very knowledgeable and patient. The trucks are all very Well taken care of and very Nice!
