Well, the best parking spot is always at either end of the CAT scales. People are always greeting you when you park there.

One time at a Maybrook, NY truckstop there was several of us flatbedders standing around in the parking lot killing time and talking. A truck pulled in and parked on a corner spot; then the driver and a woman got out and went inside. A few minutes later a tanker-yanker, driving too fast, pulled into the truckstop and turned the corner where the other truck had just parked. He caught the tractor and ripped out the headlights on the drivers side and pulled the bumper loose and it was sticking straight out like a big spear. The headlights on the drivers side were hanging down on the wires. The tanker-yanker kept going and right back out to the highway with the hammer down. The driver and woman came out, and for some odd reason they both got in the truck on the passenger side, not noticing the damage. Immediately, he started the truck and pulled out. It was a little funny seeing that big chrome spear sticking straight out and the headlight swinging throwing light everywhere. They went on to the highway and out of sight. I always wondered what the outcome of that was. If he had done a quick walkaround he would have fallen over the bumper, but it seemed like he was in a big rush.

I am in a hot shot and I often have room to spare in my spot and yet every now and then I get awakened by my co-pilot barkng her head off and I am looking at a truck for some reason havng to get close enough to my truck that I have to run to the bathroom. I have pulled into some lots and space is cramped I realize that it is a challenge to maneuver into a spot but when there is plenty of room in the lot I cannot understand why te driver has such a hard time parking or pulling out of their spot. I am thankful for insurance but the less I have to use it the better.
