How bad do manifold leaks have to be on Acert to effect economy; ported manifolds ??

Here is side by side of the Pittsburgh Power custom molded exhaust manifold next to the stock OEM for the Cat 3406E when I changed mine out.

You can see why it flows 40% better than stock.

It's extrusion honed and coated price was $1,750. I don't know of any mpg gains the motor was inframed at the time. Likely any mpg gain was negligible.

At the time this was done radiator was upgraded and I had intentions of a PDI tune, that is ultimately why I chose extruded, honed coated. In the meantime I decided against ever having PDI tune.

I'm sure I would too but I read all this stuff on here about increased cylinder pressures and blown head gaskets. I don't want to pay for stuff like that. What I've got is plenty good. More than enough for my needs. I don't regret the extrude honed manifold either. Yes it was pricey but my eyes never water when I crank the truck in the mornings. I don't smell tell tale fumes coming thru the a/c vents like I used to. I don't know what it is about T600 but it seems like any little leak and you are breathing those fumes no matter how small. They seal up perfectly.

My manifold came today from Full Tilt. Wow. Almost want to put it in bed with me and keep it safe !! Even my wife who knows nothing about engines said wow what is that thing.

In the meantime I have been having problems with the passenger side tank sucking down and not taking any from the driver side tank. It would eventually even out over night but now the driver side filled up and is blowing out. Cleaned both vents. Been going on for the last three months. Something caught in the up and over routing ?? Also I can see some black fungus type looking film on the inside of the tank starting about half way up. Can these cause any mpg problems ??

I talked with Oscar about this too but after getting that inline pump changed I got a few tanks at 6 mpg in a row and before I got maybe 6 once or twice every few months. All of a sudden then back to the 5 to 5.5. I am still getting number 2 fuel. When they changed the transfer pump I had them put a new secondary filter on too. I always do it but was in a hurry and had them do it. I wonder if the filter is filling with crud ?? Just seemed odd that after that pump was put on just a few whistles of the turbos and a guy would really coast with a load and then now back to the old same old.

Sorry I am rambling - way past over tired.

Diesel Fuel No. 1 (Grade No. 1-D S15) contains less energy per volume (about 5% less) and increases fuel consumption when compared to Diesel Fuel No. 2 (Grade No.2-D S15). A greater volume of No. 1 diesel fuel must be injected in order to yield the same amount of power as No. 2 diesel fuel. A .5 to .7 mpg difference in fuel economy can be expected between the two grades of fuel. Diesel Fuel No. 1 is also lower in viscosity, providing less lubrication.
100% biodiesel (B100) contains approximately 9% less energy per gallon than No. 2 diesel. B100 has an energy content of around 118,200 BTU/gal verses an average of 129,500 BTU/gal for No. 2 (S15) diesel fuel.
If you are using B20, the difference in power, torque, and fuel economy should be between 1% and 2%, depending on the diesel with which you are blending. As the biodiesel blend level is lowered, any differences in energy content become diminished and blends of B5 or less do not cause noticeable differences in performance compared to diesel No. 2. Biodiesel does increase lubricity and can act as like a mild solvent in fuel systems.

quick question about the aftermarket manifolds from pdi bd and pp, aren't they for a single turbo set up or can they still be used in a twin set up

acert and non acert are two different manifolds.

I ran a b model manifold on my 1mm for a while then put on a pdi one, no difference in performance, although they are both much better than stock. The b manifold didn't want to stay put though, seemed like always chasing a leak.
