Alberta oilfield driving jobs

Not sure how the cement Bulker actually works cause your following the cement pumper around and sometimes filling silos, but there never seems to be enough silos to go around.

From what I know about cement is it doesn't pay as well as other jobs. Lots of guys transferred to our base from coil and cement and they all said the same thing, not enough pay for the hours worked.

I guess the trade off for cement is less labor intensive?

 

ill save you some headaches, leave BC. Alberta is the eay to go, I speak from experience, any alberta employer will work in BC.

 

These companies have medical testing facilities all over the place, if your in Victoria ( where im from originally) you can do your tests there ans then if you pass drug/medical then spend the money to go up for interview. If you want a gauranteed job, hit Grand Prairie and door knock with resume/drive abstract in hand. Thats the only gauranteed way to get a job, lots of guys up here from the island.

 

Lots of people, lots of mixed advice on this forum. Sure, you can find work in Drayton Valley, Grand Prairie, or any Alberta oil town. But the OP said he/she wants to work in BC. It's true that working in Alberta is easy, and cementing may not always pay quite as well as frac, but you get your foot in the door, and make a lot of money anyway while you figure out what you want to do. It is super-easy to switch later once you have a job. The pay difference is all relative- we all make good money for what we do in the oilfield. I personally like Frac, but things are slow, so we aren't making much in bonuses now, which sucks. Trican and Sanjel happen to be very busy at the moment.

 

Agreed, Grand Prairie is a gold mine, but what about cost of living compared to FSJ? Either place will make money, but I'm guessing FSJ might be a lower cost of living, -and is closer to Horn River.

 

More opportunities in GP, larger community, more companies based out of GP than FSJ. I agree its a personal choice
for me FSJ is to northern, to small. Either way pick a place and go for it.
All the forum members are exceelnt and all have advice from personal experience, thats what makes this place a great way to get quality information.

I just bought plane tickets $$$$$$$ and heading up to FSJ on Tuesday for interview. I will certainly drop off some other resumes in case this does not pan out. Thanks for all the suggestions and support.
