There should be some intelligence about these clearance things. FAST and TWIC should be the same card, if you have a hazmat endorsement, then you should also get a FAST/TWIC card automatically.


But the truth is ... it is all about the money.

 

The TWIC is just another hoop a driver has to slog through as a part of the "cob". All refeneries, all docks, all military installations, many piers, & now even rail yards are requiring twics and if you have one the entry process is expedited and you dont look like a huge jo waiting for the escort to lead you around. Truck drivers wear many hats during the course of the day & imho its best to have everything that an employer requires to get the job done.
