On my side job I have to ex-Roehlies hauling milk. I wouldn't say no waiting for loads, but hardly any waiting for loads but you should be on break anyways. Most every place we deliver is 5 hours from farm to dairy, then empty back. We drop and hook at the one slow place and everyone else can take us in as soon as we get there. If we planned more in the office we could make it run really smooth, I usually try to do it that way because an extra 20 minutes on my part on a Friday results in no phone calls over the weekend.

Hourly pay definitely takes the edge off waiting at docks, especially Fridays which is all overtime.

Though it does get old just sitting there. I see a Roehl reefer just about every day. Im on days now and M-F schedule.

The Fork is still alive! We can all relax now, sounds like things are still working out pretty well. Glad to hear that.

That hourly pay must be nice tree.....Me I am busy at Iowa State with crap tons of homework, thankfully my GI bill pays for my tuition plus gives me a bit to live on every month...I am still waiting on my VA disability though (who isn't)...but all in all things are going good for me....sometimes I get a little stressed, then I remember I could always be sitting in the dock waiting...LOL

Yeah, the VA. I couldn't finance house through them, because they wanted 2 yrs worth of pay records for mileage pay. So went a different route. I was a local driver before Roehl, so it was hourly.

I am really debating on really looking hard for something local. I kinda like the deal i have with Roehl but it needs to start up again and soon otherwise i will be looking.

I've resent a #16 on 3 occasions for better fueling, and it worked. I've asked my FM once if I could use a certain different fuel stop, and she said yes. And I've fueled twice on my own perogative, and never heard a peep about it. But that exact statement was my ready excuse if i needed one.

I'm either on my last or 2nd to last Roehl load. Then it's sage brush and pinion pines for the rest of the month, while playing peekaboo with some muleys!

Life on the road is hard. These companies make it harder with their rules, the governments regulations, and the overall lack of respect. When an opportunity presents itself, BOLDLY go in the direction of your goals. Coming out of a OTR truck into a menial job may just be a stepping stone to the end result. The key is keep focused on your goal, make adjustments, DON'T WHINE, and get there.

If you don't have your goals written or know how, research it, youtube it, but do it. Trust me, and millions of others that do...it's worth it. http://toddtrader.com/

The economy broke me in 2009, but I've healed & realized it's not about the overall economy, it's about mine, my sanity, a life, and to be able to give & receive love with my family & friends from being near them, opposed to being "elsewhere alone."
