Hopefully that doesn't effect my orientation on the 18th. Have to call tomorrow.

We got the word from steve Gordon accross our qualcomm system. from what we were told, YES...Heartland aquired Gordon Trucking. But report goes they want to keep them as two seperate companies with seperate frieght base.
Newtrucker bak Thanks this. -
This is the phraseology that is bothering me though. - (taken from an email letter i recieved) Movingforward, we will continue to operate as Gordon Trucking through thetransition period. All aspects of your job, including your pay andbenefits, will remain the same. Steve and Scott Gordon willcontinue running GTI from the Pacific terminal. (my underlining)
The operative words here are "moving forward"and the "transition period" are really the ones that are concerning me....but as joseph1135 says, we will see. -
Victor_V.....not quite AWOL but as with most things I have a tendency to start with the dreaded 'good intentions'and usually stops after a while. I really had intended to keep it up but got busy with other things and kind of slipped through my rather befuddled mind.
As far as the acquisition goes, I am not really too happy about it and like I said in other posts we will see. I am playing things pretty close to my chest and holding my own counsel right now. My fear is that they (Heartland) once everything has 'transitioned'over to fully Heartland that I will not be travelling West any longer which was kind of the reason why I joined Gordon in the first place. But as I said we shall see.Victor_V Thanks this. -
Here's Heartland's investor release on the buy:

Here's what I've been saying all along and now it's a matter of public record.
Gordon Trucking average length of haul: 400 miles.
Like I said...
Further commentary, announcement highlights and how to listen to conference call live tomorrow 10:00 am http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...drivers-experience-gordon-40.html#post3645209 -
Dont have much time to respond right now..
My initial reaction is I feel betrayed... had I wanted to work for heartland I would be there now.
Needless to say I will be looking into my options but I do not expect this to go well for Gordon drivers.. -
I'm interested in seeing how this is going to work out. Heartland doesn't have the level of equipment that Gordon does. Heartland is more of a regional carrier while Gordon is a long haul company. What about TC fleet? Heartland is a one hundred percent dry van fleet while TC is a mere 14% of Gordon Trucking. I guess we will find out in the coming weeks and months. Also, GTI and Heartland have terminals in places that are in close vicinity. Like Columbus and Indianapolis, will this mean a larger east coast presence for GTI into New England and Florida? NYC? How much will be put on the rail? Questions I have.
The Challenger Thanks this. -
I have a feeling that the Gordon family wanted the best possible outcome for both their drivers and managers. Heartland has one of the best pay scales for a carrier. They trade in their equipment regularly and its usually in top notch shape. Its better than being acquired by Swift or Werner. At least the Gordons didn't sell out to them or Knight. A bunch of you might not remember but one member went through it with Link being merged into Arnold.
