I know how the system works. I only drove for a year and a half total. Quite frankly, I would be more than a little scared of a company that would just put me in a truck and turn me loose.FLATBED Thanks this. -
Was in a truck once where my buddy almost rear-ended.
guys used to mock his accent on CB radio too.
Called him @#$%-&*() -
If you can get around the insurances companies, or get with a company with self insurance, plus someone that offers a refresher course, that would probably be the best way to go IMO, other than that, you need to know someone. You know that already. Best Of Luck To You !!!

I am sure I can get a crappy job, I am after someone I can stand to stay with a minimum of 3 years, which is why I want to do flatbed. I was on a Wal Mart dedicated account for 13 months. I'm not going into grocery warehouses again!!! Also, Ill be ###### if I am going to be away and make only $300/wk due to low miles. If a driver is only doing $300/wk he should be home 5 days at least!
Somehow, I think trucking must be worse than 9 years ago!FEELTHEWHEEL Thanks this. -
it has not IMPROVED thats for sure !

Most of us know it is more work looking for a job than it is having one, but making an attempt to latch on to a solid three year company (good company) is going to be real tough with no recent experience. Get with the flatbed drivers on this form, see if they can help you out, if ya haven't already done so. The hardest delivery is the one when we must percent or selves to an employer. I think I know how you feel. We can do the work, I do not think anyone doubts that, but I have burned some bridges in the past, and that long gap that you talked about has made it a long road getting back into the industry. If ya discover a legitimate short cut to a good job, let us in on it. I will do the same, if fortune finds me first.
Good Luck, And All The Best !!!BondJamesBond Thanks this. -
If they would take me, I would go back to Maverick in a heartbeat. It is not easy, but they never lied to me or asked me to do anything illegal.FEELTHEWHEEL Thanks this.
