Oh, ok. Maybe you could move a different kind of freight.
-
Yeah but it's hard finding anything that makes near as much. Last year my take home was 140k. This year I am on track for 150

Wow. God bless you, brother. I wish I would have done something like that when I was your age. The only thing that I can tell you is that there are guys with their own authoriy that make over 100k. I don't know anything about the lanes that you can run where you live or any of that type of thing. But I can tell you that car haulers are on the upper part of what can be made. Also step decks and heavy haul make really good money.
I would suggest that you post a new question to the guys here. There is so much information on this site here that I am amazed. I have found out things about local work that I never knew existed. Maybe they could shed some light on your situation. And I am glad to hear that you can generate that kind of money. That must be such a good feeling to take care of your faimily like that. That's awesome, man. -
It makes me feel good knowing I can buy some shoes and a jacket without feeling like I robbed my kids. I remember when I was a hhg laborer and didn't come close to 30k for 4 years. It's a whole new world still

When you say you took home 140k, is that what you paid taxes on? Or is that what the truck made?
-
The truck and my body made 300k. I paid taxes on about 140000. Remember hhg drivers only drive about 60000 miles a year and we have to hire labor and buy material for every move. I shoot for 1000$ a day that a job takes. Cut it in half. I take half and spend the other to operate. So if a job takes 8 days it better pay at least 8000. A job that holds me up 2 days needs 2000 minimum.l

How did you get into HHG? Do you team? How does your side of the business work? How do you get your loads? What kind of services do you provide? I know you are here looking for answers but I have no idea how HHG works and I'm just curious.

Nice work man

I got into hhg when I was 16 because my father had been in it since before I was born and I just picked up the trade. Ive never seen an hhg team. I get my loads through the van line I'm contracted/leased to. They pay me a large percentage of the total job cost and im 1099d. I manage expenses and pay from there. I pack people's #### pad wrap their furniture and load it like 3D Tetris into my truck floor to ceiling. I protect the doors jambs railings and flooring with specialized pads and plastic wrap.
