What is local pay? And what are the requirements? Yesterday morning I was sent to pick up a load 36 dispatch miles away (45 actual miles through San Antonio rush hour traffic), but once there I discovered the shipper had nothing for me. I asked my FM if that qualified for local pay since it (& waiting for the next load) burned up all my morning for a measly $13, but she said no. Later I was assigned a Waco load and deadheaded there... Looking at the payroll chart, she assigned the 180-mile deadhead to Waco under the canceled load # (normally the deadhead to pick up an already assigned load is put under the new load #). So instead of having 36 miles on the cancelled load (which I think may qualify as local), I have 216 which obviously does not. Is this creative accounting shorting me?
