Give a henpecked man a gun and a badge and he goes overboard on a power trip and abusing people. He knows when he goes home he must cower down to the wife and grovel to her. Many weak men choose police work, especially the small town cops. I have much respect for most law enforcement people, but the applicants aren't vetted to weed out the weak, simple minded men and women who are societies losers. I have 2 sons that are narcotics officers and they agree & wish there were strict guidelines to profile the weak & those with a personal agenda to cover up their inadequacies by hiding behind a badge.

If they ask to search your truck, you can always tell them NO. Come back after your 10 hour break with a warrant. You have the right to say no when asked to search your truck. I was at the Petro in Carlisle, PA a few months ago. A local cop was sitting in their parking lot and pulling trucks over and doing inspections. Not on their lot, but on the street in front. I complained to the manager. I now avoid that fuel stop. I don't want the hassle. I have heard stories about Effingham for some time. If I know this type of thing is going on, I avoid the truck stop. There is no need to harass drivers while they are trying to sleep.

Invest in window curtains and use them for your 10's.OPUS 7 Thanks this. -
If a dot guy tried to wake me up out of the sleeper he would get no response from me. If he hung around for however many hours I had left I'd tell him I had my ear plugs in. When somebody knocks on your door late at night you are under no obligation to open up. Let them get a warrent.

30 years later he's now head of the drug task force. He is still a little squirt though.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I wish they were there every time I slept at any truck stops so my load and fuel takes are safe
If your a Law Biding citizen you have nothing to worry about right?
