Hi Mark I have a 720 about a month old that is freezing a lot mostly when calculating or recalculating most of the time I have to restart and might work while other times restarting won't help and I just have to wait 5-10 minutes until it finishes calculating.
-
just updated my 720
ver 3.55.2780.1540 ( 336054)
usa 001010731 (120720) 13220607
os ver a5.rm.2t720.120411.0
when i do a poi / my route/ travel centers it is only searching 1/3 of my route.
a 900 mile route...ottawa ill to bronx ny it stops at 300 miles ( ohio) of the 899 my route
same as if i do ottawa ill to laredo tx it stops in okalamoma
if i do rest stop search it dose the full route
any idea why this is only searching 1/3 of the route now? -
Incorrect, what I'm asking is why regardless of my computer or internet connection, the download ALWAYS (track record of about 6ish updates in the past year and a half) takes so long
also, while I understand that there is a boatload of data in maps etc, assuming your 30 mb connection bottlenecks to 15 MB/s and a loss factor of 25% in the programs calling to specific files etc, 15 actual mb/s at 22.5 minutes is 20.25 GB, this I cannot believe, the downloader interface/your server are simply slow as all getout
and whilst I realise that this is not neccessarily a bug, but it IS very annoying, ever thought of putting up mirror sites expressly for the download and getting rid of the slow cumbersome and innefficient rand dock?

Since there only has been one map update since last year, you may look at your laptop or carrier. Most downloads are only 400-500 mb on version updates.
What is the version of your Dock? Rand has changed IP's of there server when the newer one came out last year.
Thanks,
Mark -
RM only does a x distance search since the data pulled back would take time to gather and would be large. Since you are looking at a 900 mile route, this would be a large data pull for travel centers. Travel Centers will pull areas that may be a gas station with truck parking. In the data this is coded as a Travel Center.
You can do a search on End of Day while in route or by city.
You can also zoom out, drag the map on your route, look on the top header and you will see the miles. Once you get to where you will probably be, zoom in. Center the "+" on the road. At the top is the city, state. Then do a search on that city/state.
Thanks,
Mark -
Latest dock version, installed that just before update
So on your computer with a 30Mb connection it throttles down to just over 1 MB per minute? Thats very slow -
PM me.. subject line - 720 freezing.
Thanks,
Marklaurentiu1 Thanks this. -
Hi Mark, I bought a 720 day before yesterday, I just made it home last night, I'm trying to download the dock software, but it gets to the Install Wizard and just seems to hang there and tells me it lost the connection to my device (even thought the unit is physically connected and says so on it's screen). I wonder if you could be of help.
