ved12 465hp very very low mpg

    Ok, bought 2007 volvo 670 recently. Very nice truck, but drains the money from my pocket.
    It has a freakin 4.85mpg calculated myself. Computer shows 5.2. While sitting at truck stop now on new braunfels tx checked for boost air leaks. Sprayed the intercooler and all the connections going in amd out of the it woth windex. No bubbles anywhere.turbo looks new to me also. No check engine lights on at all. Truck sounds healthy on idle and when driving. No strange shakings of the engine all tires got good air pressure. I was thinking that mybe i have to go with egr delete. My old 12,7 pre egr has 6,93 mpg and crap got les then 5. Any ideeas would be really appreciated.

    A Volvo does not get the best fuel mileage. You can take it to a shop and have them do a Charge Air Cooler test and test all the turbo hoses and all that. It might cost you a few dollars but it should be cheaper than you not getting fuel mileage. The EGR delete should help it some.

    I know that, but this is way too out of normal mpg a d12 will do.
    Maybe i should consider changing the turbo with a bigger one because this one is tiny in comparison the detroit or isx got. What BorgW turbo can work fine on these kind of engines, do they make turbos at all for d12? BTW is anybody in here who can give me the part# of the turbo by vin#, the label is like oxidated and cant read it.

    I have an 07 780 and I dead headed from Dallas to tn empty and barely got 6mpg at about 65mph

    I don't know what is going on with you guys volvo but, we get very good mpg out of ours....Dallas to TN @ 65mph MT you should have been getting high 7s....

    I always check the simple things first any time I know notice a drop in MPGs......Time for PM, check fuel filter, check tire wear/air, check for exhaust leaks, run some diesel kleen thru there.....

    We'll I forgot to mention that I just installed a d12 reman lol,so we'll see how it goes I only put 300 miles on it since it was installed
