Flatbed Company and questions ???

1. Search TMC on here.
2. Not every flatbed company is the same, I suggest do some minimal research.
3. Strapping / Chaining / Tarping / securing is different for EVERYONE. Have to imply into your own abilities.



ETA: Great skill set learning anything involving a flatbed, No doubt will improve your confidence later on in the trucking world.

 

Flatbed companies runs are local or regional or OTR. System Transport runs 48 states, Canada, Alaska. So it depends on what you want. Securing loads isn't hard, mostly common sense & gets easier once you get your routine down. Tarping a load pays extra. I liked the challenge of securing loads & didn't mind doing it in any weather. Securing a load properly would be compatible with a detail person such as an aircraft mechanic changing careers. The only trucking better than flatbedding is tanker.

Former life, Every time interacted with a melton driver, They knew what was going on, I promise anyone. NOT A MELTON RECRUITER !
I know zero about the company, the drivers was top notch, kudos to the training. Just my opinion They run around my area. far removed from being the local carrier. but those dudes were great.



Heck, I'm not even sure if their is melton thread here. lazy to look. under rated carrier IMO.

 

Its not hard, at least after you get your own system down, its hard to remember it all but i just learn as i go read securment books and what not. For system trans they get alot of freight every where im more local as in only di surounding states but going to start running further for the winter, it good honest work and it keeps you from geting to lazy.

 

Roehl is a good skateboard company also, and you can do regional or longhaul 48+. They are on the top of my list right now.

 

Depending where in Indiana you are re-locating to, there a tons of flatbed companies. System transport has a good reputation. They have a terminal in Gary. PGT also has a GREAT reputation. They also have a yard in Gary. Both companies hire new CDL grads and train.
