I have a 2010 pete.isx 15, 600hp cummins 2050 torque. I haul wood in northern maine and the dealer says shes all they will crank it to. Hauling 100,000 to 130,000lbs id like more power. I have the heavy clutch and trans with 46,000lb full locking rears. Any suggestions for low budget power that packs a punch?
More power

5 hours after i posted this i lost the front rear input bearing. I have only put 30,000 miles on it. It has 255,000 on the truck. Is that a sign of previous owner abuse or do heavy loads lower there life span that bad?

For the power question post a thread in 18 wheelers pinging Mr Haney, he's your guy for more horses.
bringthenoise Thanks this. -
man, i did just fine with 475 horses pulling 100k. in the western mountains.
i wished i had 600 and wanted more. -
Yeah i have a 98 pete im driving right now. Ol reliable. 475 e model cat. Im just trying to make a force to be reckoned with. Power is reputation here. These guys get serious. Being 25yrs old im trying to build my rep as a powerhouse

Hope your bringing your wallet to the table too. There's more to big power than a 800hp engine. Everything behind it has to be able to hold up.
Richter Thanks this. -
A 2010 has DPF which limits what you can do. Pittsburg power should be able to get more power out of it. A few power items you should get are....FASS fuel system. This removes air from your diesel and makes it burn more efficiently giving you more power. Fleet air filters. These basicaly allow your truck to breath better giving you more power. (not sure if they have one for your truck, check um out though). Being that you have DPF, i don't hink there are any aftermarket manifolds, turbos, or mufflers that will help (since you dont have a muffler). Get it tuned by either hanky or PP. I don't have experience with hanky, but he has a lot of good reviews here. the dealer wont push it as much a 3rd party will. Although, again, with dpf there is only so much you can do.
In summery:
Get FASS
Get Fleet Air Filters if they have one for your truck
Call a 3rd party tuner like mr hanky or pitts power -
Could be either, but...heavy loads do kill the truck. I would never buy a used truck if I knew it was used for heavy haul. My truck rocks a few inches with a gross of 80. The weight is so much that it is easier to rotate the whole truck then the wheels. I cant imagine how much torqe your putting on the drive train trying to get a 100,000 pound load to move. With enough power and a heavy enough load you could literally rip your engine right out of the truck. I saw that happen at a tractor pull once. As others have mentioned, you need to make sure the rest fo the truck can handle the added power and you need to be nice to it. no just dropping the clutch. Gotta be smooth. "With great power comes great responsibility" lol.

I have the right stuff behind the power. Questions answered thank. No more input needed

try a V-8 cat or kta 600 cummins, 600 hp is the low spec. on the kta my 79 pete with a V-8 could not out pull the kta engines but thats the way life goes. if you are going to run big power would start with the cooling system you will need electric fans to keep the engine cool on the pulls, an 18 speed might be ok but a heavy duty 10 over or a set of brownings 5X4 will work good . and the drive train will need to b beefed up a little. my V-8 averaged about 4 mpg pulling a meat trl to the west coast, the kta 3 1/2-4 would b about rite. lots of luck
