I have a little experience pulling water tanker. Overfilled everytime, on purpose. So I was driving at max gross weight of 99,800 lbs. I do know that there are many different types of tankers (baffled, smooth bore, dry, food grade, and I am sure that there are many more.) What is the primary tanker type that students would be trained on?
What to expect with your trainer/ bulk division.

I got my CDL, hazmat, and tanker in the last week, and I start Schneider Bulk training at Caraopolis right after Thanksgiving. Thanks for the helpful thread, Ethos. Hopefully I'll be seeing you on the road soon.

the one you hook to?

we do not to my knowledge do food grade which are one of the smooth bore if I remember correctly? Likely baffled chem trailer. Ethos will be along soon enough. -
What is starting pay for a recent grad in bulk division?

I'm starting training/orientation in a few weeks at the Cory (Pittsburgh) OC... Training is $80/day pay plus they cover room and breakfast & lunch. As for driving after training, I've been told I will start at .35cpm with a $3750 sign-on bonus (paid partially every 3 months over 1 year) and tuition reimbursement for my CDL driving school, paid $150/month. There's a .02cpm bonus paid every 3 months (for meeting certain safety and fuel goals, I assume), and the pay bumps up at 6-months to .39cpm and at one year to .41cpm..RYAN Thanks this.

I have a phone interview this afternoon with Schneider. We'll see how it goes.

We do not pull baffled tanks. There are not many companies that do. We do have compartment tanks but you won't pull those often and most of the time one of those mean a multi stop. No food grade at all.

Cory is the best place to train. Best instructors, best hotel and the best food. Everything you have been told is the truth. Good luck.

You will be trained on a smooth bore. You will experience a full surge hit. Nothing to be nervous about.
