No, pay the fine, safety won't bother you, Ins won't bother you either. Or fight it, pay the fine & a lawyer. Roscoe P. Coltrain is going to win. I had a cop on my donkey for 6 years. I beat him in court for a speeding ticket. He took it personal. I know better than to enter California anyway. I love the place. Was born there, grew up there, left there. 4 wheeler, cool, truck, no way. Your a target for some cop. Your bank account is all they want. Ask others, I have no reason to lie to anyone. I used to use PPL (Pre Paid Legal) for tickets.

I'm telling you... Pick up the phone, call the DA's office where you got the ticket & simply tell them you got the ticket & you have a CDL & you want to know if there is any way they can help you or any programs they have in place that will allow them to reduce the citation to a non movable violation/charge.
If they do, you pay the fine & abide by the agreement that they give you for reducing the charge to a non movable & your home free. Its done. It wont cost you a bunch of money from lawyers, legal aide etc.
If they do not have any programs or just wont help you, THEN look for alternatives like hiring an attorney.
How much trouble is it to pick up the phone, explain your situation & ask if they can help you? It doesn't cost anything to ask & if they reduce it to a non-movable.... your home free.
Just tell them you have a CDL & your just asking for some help.
I have had a few tickets over my driving history of 28 years now & 100% of them were reduced & NONE went on my CDL driving record. Easy. It still costs for the fine but your insurance doesn't go up, your employer doesn't know about it & you always have a clean MVR. Just pick up the phone, call the DA's office & ask... its simple. They just want their money. They don't care how they get it, $500 is $500. They don't care if its for an expired inspection sticker, or a speeding ticket. -
I live in cali and I know better than to go 65 in a truck. One poster said ask for a reduction in fine. That pretty much will take care of that problem. Courts want the money. Thats all. Its common sense is all. You dont need no dam lawyer for that. And one more thing, if I needed help or advice, I wouldnt be asking on a forum thats for sure. On to the next I got a ticket in cali for speeding thread. Sayonara

I called and they said I have to appear in court to get it reduced or whatever....so guess I'll either try to be in court or use a defense attorney...thanks anyway

Keep in mind that these reductions in the fines and such are considered ticket masking and the fmcsa has implemented rules to stop this. Many of the I got it reduced, may have happened before the rules came.baha Thanks this. -
Your welcome. Now we know where we stand with that. So, if it were me & I wanted to spend the money to fight it, I would probably go consult an attorney (or the traffic legal guys some of the guys have mentioned) & get his advise. I really think that's what I would do. I certainly would never show up in court without someone who knows what he is doing.
I am really sorry that it didn't work out. I guess that's California for you though. But it could be just that district, who knows. But it certainly didn't cost you anything to call & find out. Now you know where you stand with them. I have done this in Texas & Louisiana & its always worked for me.
Best wishes my friend
