You're saying if you run your *** off for 6 day a week and 600 miles per day, you might make a grand? Seriously? Who's paying that. Please let everyone know so they can avoid them. Anybody that's willing to work for slave wages like those, except for maybe a driver fresh out of training, and then only for as long as it takes to get a better job, needs their heads examined. Any company paying such crappy wages should not be in business.
.21 per mile plus $55 daily per diem pay

Message received...I will pass on this, but someone out there will probably still take the bait. Fortunately for me its only a job to keep from digging too deep into my piggy bank for the winter. Thank you all for your input!

am I reading correctly, you have 17 years trucker experience? Seems with that experience it would of been common sense to run away from that when first offered and with that kind of experience you should be getting no less than 40cpm
Per diem is a joke and a lot of companies offer it, my company offered it but how they do it is by cpm, so 10cpm goes to per diem and then they pay you back like 8cpm of it after taxes so they keep part of it for themselves and like someone said it jacks your taxes up, most truckers dont make enough money to worry about lowering their tax bracketsBatoexpress Thanks this. -
.21 CPM
Tell them they get what they pay for and with 17 years experiance that is not enough to pay for you -
As I dug into this "company" for smiles and giggles, I asked if he had tripacs on his truck or what his idle policy was....his responce??? Don't worry, we will send you south so you should be fine!
Ok, well thanks for wasting 1/2hr of my life. Good bye! -
4000 miles a week is part time? .21 and $55pd ? We'll send you south, don't worry?? How about splitting the fuel with me? I mean why not, we're splitting everything else.....
Glad you bailed before they got their hooks in you.....
Geeze.... -
If they're paying you $55.00 cash per diem, that's $350 per 7 day week that you get paid that's non-taxed whether you turn a wheel or not. Which is fair. As for the $0.21/mile, isn't that along the lines of what Roehl is paying their new hires? I wouldn't work for that rate, but there are plenty that would. I don't see this opportunity as being any better or worse than many that are out there - aside from the lofty miles promises.

First off,
miles per trip does not necessarily mean per week.
It could be per round, which could be 8-10 days.
And,
21 cpm ??
What kind of miles, hub ?
Makes a big difference !! -
If a company does not pay Per Diem, then you can claim the rate that is published, but only 80% for full days away. 75% for partial days of going/leaving hometime.
If a company takes Per Diem from your pay, you figure out how much per trip they take out. Then keep track of it for the year. At the same time you keep track of what you would have been able to claim.. Subtract the difference, and this is still what you are able to claim from gross income.
Companies take Per Diem to lessen the taxes they pay to the Government. In turn, this might be enough to buy newer trucks/trailers and support pay raises to drivers.
You look for every means to lessen your taxes, businesses are the same.
How many drivers actually take advanage of Per Diem, be it company or self? This is about $12,000 to $15,000 off your taxes at the end of the year. -
Do the math. If you drove 600 miles a day you would make $181, or $.30 a mile. Ridiculous.
