14k a pay period? Every 2 weeks? Don't no what y'all get paid but it had to be at least .38 a Mile so over 5k a pay period to train? Where do I sign up for that?

Its a split. Usually the trainee or refresher gets .20 mile and the senior gets mid to high 20's cent range. Both drivers get credit for all miles the truck runs loaded or empty...theres additional incentive for the trainer as well but that varies. Abilene absolutely has the miles solo, training, or team. I rarely have week under 3000 mi unless i take extended hometime!

God no Johnboy. Don't want any part of Donner pass. Just yet. Really enjoyed your thread (and Scooterdawg/Runningman too)and totally stoked about training with you. I am a Mets fan too since we had their triple A team in Norfolk for 38 years. I'm a 52 yo newbie. Have a great holiday, man. Look forward to hearing from you about our meet up. I figure Rocky Mount NC or whatever you decide.

They do. But from certain approved schools. Then it's 6 months with a trainer, all the while getting upgraded as recommended from your trainer. Then the final two weeks are with a finisher like myself. The training is long, but very efficient. The pay is the highest in the industry for a student. It seems to work fine here. Call Sally in recruiting and ask her your questions, she's very helpful.

I drove all night sucking on Ricola cough drops. Quite the night, coffee and Ricola.

The bonus is nice, but knowing we get good quality drivers onboard is what it's all about.

Boy you got that shot right. Be safe yourself, enjoy your turkey.

They got the team miles that's for sure. I saw Bill yesterday and he mentioned that when I get back Monday that David will keep this truck and I will get the last new one up against the fence.

Depending on what stage the trainee is in dictates what pay scale I'm in. With David being in the last stage I get .26 pm plus all the extra stop pay. Theses last 2 weeks also added an extra $250 worth of extra drop pay for me and a few other pieces of change. God willing, when we get done Saturday morning my pay period will have me a shade over $4k for the two weeks.

i just wrote all this on my iPhone while David is driving through Nashville. Not bad.

George, Sally gave me your phone number yesterday before I left out. Id like to speak with you sometime the next day or two. I will be back to richmond Monday night, then switch in to yet another brand new truck as David will be keeping this one. I will be headed home to south florida for the holiday, coming back out on Monday the 2nd. I should pick you up early Tuesday morning the 3rd. Right now it's time for bed. I have to take over somewhere in Oklahoma tonight at 7 pm.

Just got the ok to run through Phoenix to LA instead of going straight across 40. There's a big storm that's bringing ice and snow from just west of OKC to Flagstaff. Because of the tight schedule and the multiple drops they routed us to drop south. It's an extra 95 paid miles but less headaches. I for one am glad, I start my shift at 7 pm and would have had to deal with it all night tonight.

    The Challenger Thanks this.
