Your friend should have taken some of that $5000. out of that trainers butt when he started tossing his stuff out. I would have made it about 25 miles with a jerk like that before we were pulled over and "knowledge bumps" were being exchanged.![]()

I wish I had my camera on me in Missouri,
I say a Stevens 2007 KW on a flatbed trailer being pulled by another KW from Stevens.... The front drivers tire was folded under the truck, and the drive wheels were also busted up fairly bad....
I asked what happened, and the driver of the haul truck, shock his head and said under his breath,
"#### student teams" and then walked away......
Glad I am not in one of these trucks.... seems that Neb was just too much for them to handle..... -
It's interesting how people will take one bad, albeit very bad, experience and use as an excuse to just quit. Stevens would have continued finding you a trainer until you found one that you could work with. Heck, if you come back after June 6, I'll be a trainer with Stevens and I do promise that I will not be rude to anyone.
as far as trainee teams, yes they have accidents. The difference between stevens and other companies is that we have stupid drivers in pairs which helps to reduce the stupidity. Tell me, would you rather have someone watch your back for your first three weeks doing it for real, or would you rather have nobody with you. The trainee teams were a good thing for me. I and my former trainee partner are still good friends to this day and we still lean on each other for advise and experience. -
my hubbby has been with stevens for a year now...he is also going to become a trainer.I have such mixed emotions about this company.at times the money is great, and at other times it really stinks.he is in the alliance program now.he gets home 2 or 3 days every 6 weeks. Is that the norm for this industry? He is not having to pay back his schooling. All of that was already paid for.everyone told him how great this company was but I am having my doubts.

My Significant other went to Stevens CDL school on a Saturday, and was medically discharged on the Monday, so caught the next flight home, they have there own Dr's.
He is now with another company and passed his medical no problems, there is no reason he can't drive a truck safely on the medication he has to take.
Today two accounts arrived in the mail from Stevens , one for $15.01 and one for $15.00 they both say they are for Tuition and the tuition interest is 18%, since he didn't sign any contracts with them, I will be calling them first thing in the morning and finding out why they would send a tuition bill.
Keep in mind he had a medical here before he left for Stevens transport and passed with flying colors. -
I keep hearing all these bad things about stevens...and at first it scared me a little(hubby has been with them a year now)but as I have been reading in all the forums...I have only seen 1 or 2 posts from people who are happy with thier company.I can really only think of 1 and that was from a guy who is with hartt.I am not saying stevens is a great company..i deffo have complaints but I just wonder if I would have the same complaints elswhere. They haven't lied or been bad to him ,but the training part was awful as far as pay goes but it looks like all companies are the same in that aspect. But home time is awful. He is home about every 6 weeks.Again I'm not praising stevens but look around, everyone seems to be complaining about other companies just as much.

I've spent the last 3 weeks monitoring this blog and some others. The comments here are enough to make me want to pass on persuing employment with Stevens Transport. However, I did talk with a trainer out at the 49er Truck Stop in Sacramento Calif. Wayne gave me some good and fair insight about Stevens as a company. My recruiter is Sara and she convinced me that Stevens is a good company to work for. I have made my decision. I'm heading to Dallas next week to start training. I plan to make the best of things no matter what happens. I am looking forward to a career change and having top of the line equipment to work with.

good luck, remember, its your career and you cant let one bad experience stop you from what you want to accomplish. ive been with stevens for 6 months and i couldnt be happier. i get my miles. have i had problems yes, did i have lousy trainers, yeah 1 real bad one. but i havent let any of those things keep me from getting what i wanted.

I've been reading for a while and noticed that a few of you have gone through Stevens' training. I'm thinking of doing it because I have no CDL, no experience, and an 8 year old criminal conviction. My question is, I noticed someone here said that Stevens has a company physical which is more involved than the DOT. Could someone tell me what exactly that entails? I want to make sure I'll qualify before i go out there. Also if there are any other ways they might try to disqualify me please let me know. Thanks.

Made the trip out to Dallas. Man that was a long haul. 1435 miles. The Crosslands Extended Stay hotel on Hwy 67/Hwy 30 is not as bad as some of the previous threads have said. Stevens HQ is impressive to look at. The yard is perfect. No pot holes, trash accumulating. There must be over 100 new looking tractors, Petes and KW's and probably just as many trailers. The office is just as impressive. Stevens is a top notch company. They give all the appearances of doing all the right things. They really check out your references. I have never been scruitenized this closely by any other company. The check everything. They keep you very busy the first week. Orientation starts on Sunday morning. You are given a copy of the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook. This is paper booklet you will be using to prep for 5 out of a total of 6 tests needed to get your CDL. Monday was spent going over DOT regulations and Q&A for the Special Requirements test. There is also a tour of the facilities. Tuesday you will give them a urinalysis sample. Wedensday you will get the physical. The physical in my opinion was not as intense as I was expecting. After reading some of the previous threads. I don't think there is anything to be worried about. If you smoke pot or do drugs or have a drinking problem. Then you probably have cause for concerns. Stevens has a zero tolerance to drugs and alcohol. Thursday and Friday we were behind the wheel learning how to Couple/Un-couple, Strait backing. Parallel parking and driving around the track Bobtail. So far getting through the Bobtail upshifting/downshifting without a wiplash. Some of those guys pop the clutch or press the brakes so hard it about throws everybody out of the truck. Anyway, its all been alot of fun. You are completely immerced is everything Truck and DOT regulations. The day starts at 7:00 am and usually ends at 4:00 pm. First week I got my Texas CDL permit and passed General Knowledge. I have 3 tests left. If you do get disqualified and sent home from the school there is a 90% chance they won't hold you to paying for the school. The company has nothing to gain by lying to people and sticking you with a $6,000.00 loan obligation to pay back. Stevens is committed to giving people a way of getting into the Truck Driving industry. More then alot of other companies. They don't want to mess with training newbees. To me Stevens looks like a good deal. If you want to drive a truck Stevens is the place to be. And by the way. If you are driving to Dallas. Do not speed in Texas. The cops are everywhere and they will stop you. I was in Dallas about 6 hours when the Sheriff tagged me. So watch out.
Smokr Thanks this.
