Good thinking about weekend dispatch ...So glad that you are doing well, EMCHIEF. My only advice from my experience is to have a good winter scarf or something similar..... sometimes breathing really cold air can cause some discomfort at first...and the last thing that you want right now is a cold.

Okay, not much going on so we need to get something going here ....I really don't want to have to follow through on my threat to say nice things about Luke!
I haven't worked on the blog in a month , but we have had almost 1,100 page views so I am assuming it has been of some use. I was thinking about a list of tools that a driver might find helpful. I know that you don't need much because the trucks are well maintained but I also know that most of you carry a few tools with you. What have you found helpful to have?
I found this little gadget and picked it up as a stocking stuffer for some of the folks on my list. What do you think ....would this come in handy? It is heavy duty,(would really put a lump on someone if you threw it at them, lol), small and compact so it doesn't take up much space and has a variety of sizes.

A leatherman and a small pair of bolt cutters ((for cable seals... anywhere getting loads with bolt seals generally has their own bolt cutters))
HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
I never gave that any thought. I haven't worn a scarf since I was a kid. Knowing my luck I would end up choking myself with it... lol Seriously good point about breathing in cold air. I will have to do something. Thanks...HometimeQueen Thanks this.

Which are often dull and don't do the job. I bought my own plus a good metal cutter since cutting wire seals can be a chore, too.

Not so much now with all the air assist trailers but, a small sledge hammer and a bar, slightly smaller than the pin holes. for knocking those pesky pins that won't retract in, various screwdrivers and torx tools. TA will let you, or used to, do small repairs for yourself. Quicker than waiting on a shop!!!
When ya'll move on to other non-mega companies, you'll be expected to do more. I carry spare fuel filters, belts, fuses and bulbs and, am expected to replace as needed. Well.... except for the belts.HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
Wasn't meaning to do a low blow, a bit snarky..... oh heck yea. At the time I wrote that, had forgot about the resturaunts on the other side of the main street there.
Doesn't matter at this point tho. After all my drops tomorrow, DHing to Omaha. Vacation...... here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Cranky Yankee...you were right!

George needs one year experience, so will probably sign up for another six month lease.
That company he was interested in said he would be much better off with one year.
Hometime Queen, He just told me it's painful to breath...burrrrr!
-
Awwww.....sorry George has to do 6 more months before he can go to the company that he wants. Where is he at, oliver2? Texas and Oklahoma are being pounded right now. It is miserable cold in Missouri. I had pulled out the King's winter gear the last time he was home and made him take it with him.
