Why isit unacceptable. When we start out we are very inefficient and unproductive fortunately when i started out i was on paper so most of those inefficencies could be made up but now with most students on elogs who eats that cost...so as you become more efficient and productive you earn more,..,,,should a company pay a student an hour to hook upto a trailer or for the hour it takes him to plan his trip.....and do u really think you were worth 1500 to 1800 a week 1st year that is the cost to the company for u to take home a grand..,,,
I garuntee i wasn,t this arguement is a moot point because companies will have a starting wage equal to what they are paying now be it hourly or mileage the rates just ain,t there in general dry box freight .....have u read there quarterlies 2 to 3 percent profit margine you want to make more learn a niche become more efficient and therfore more valuable not all drivers are created equal

I'm pulling tankers now. I learned after 5 years that box freight, be it reefer or dry, just don't make money for a company guy. Plus there was to much sitting and waiting and bs to deal with. Now I spend a hour getting loaded, hour unloading and the rest of the time I'm driving. No sitting, no waiting, no bs. And now I'm hourly so I get paid for every minute I'm awake. Best job I've ever had.

I do some jobs that pay by the hour and some jobs that pay percentage. I will take the percentage thankyou. I can make more money in a 14 hour period getting paid percentage then i would make getting paid hourly.

To equal what I'm making on percentage (hauling HazMat waste tanker), I'd have to make $58.75/hr on a 40 hr work week. I'll keep my percentage until circumstances change.

Papatom you must be a o/o cause no company guy makes that kinda money. If you are a company guy let me know what company cause I wanna apply. But also a side note what trucker works a 40 hour work week? I use my full 70 every week. Or close to it. I don't have my hazmat yet but I will be soon. I'm clearing $1100 a week right now gross. Best playing job I've had since I started driving.

LOL I have been clearing 1600 a week and I don't put in more then 10 hours a day anymore and only work 5-6 days a week. And I don't haul hazmat. Just potatoes.

But you have to remember where I live and work out of. I live in Iowa. My cost of living is low compared to many other places. So $1100 is good money where I live. Of course more is always better haha
