Planning to pick up a load in OKC on monday heading to Cleveland TN. The shorter route is to take the highway 72 east of Memphis all the way to Chattanooga, Ive never driven this highway how is it for trucks? Does it pay off to take it as opposed to going to Nashville then down the I24?

Its not a bad road--but honestly do not see the point--according to PC Miler--less than 30 miles difference--and probably and hour or two longer at least
-
Stay on 40 to 840 to I24 (I think 840 runs around now on that side of town)...
-
I'd take 40 into Tennessee to just past Dickson then take TN840 to I 24 to I 75. Faster and avoids Nashville.
-
Yes 840 is complete on both ends.
-
40 to 840 to 24 is the best route just like the others said.
-
It's not a bad road.
-
And you can run 70-75 mph without being bothered! Can't do that on US72...
-
Many parts of 72 have 50 mph truck speed limit and you get to circle several court houses. Allways wondered why they built them in the middle of the road.
Take 40-840 save yourself a few hours. -
We have a couple of those old court houses here in Ohio as well. Never understood it, unless they could barricade the court house easier for some reason?
