I recently enrolled in Greenville Technical College's Truck Driver Training program.
They're ranked approx. #7 across the nation and #2 in the southeast.

Has anyone on this forum attended Greenville Tech?
Please respond. I'd like to learn more about everyone's experience.
    Thank you.
    I spent $1140 as an out-of-county student. Cost for a Greenville-county-resident was $940, with 1-year residency.

Out of state is $3440. I considered attending Fox Valley Tech in Appleton, Wisconsin before I was admitted to Greenville Tech.
I saved almost $4,000 in room and board.
Did anyone here go to Greenville Tech?

Edit: I'd have to spend $4,000 at Extended Stay America to attend school in Wisconsin vs. move into my father's house for 10 weeks and save $4k. Is skid pad training worth the added expense?

Goodwill Industries has a free CDL school in North Carolina. Don't know if you have to be a NC resident or not.

    Holy everything, Batman.

Thanks for the responses. I'll check out Goodwill in NC and Millis Transfer.

Here's a virtual bitcoin for your effort.
Seriously, thanks for reply. I will look into both.
    Cheers.

Spending 2 years at Millis to pay for CDL training is easy...5 weeks vacations, dependable hometime...and most importantly if you apply yourself you can easily make over 50K your first year...they will give you the skills necessary to be successful.

Really? 50k first year? I'm all for that. Please explain.

I can stay OTR for 44 weeks per year for $50k...

EDIT: I'd stay OTR (solo driving) for 51.5 weeks per year for $50k if that's actually attainable. I'd be debt-free in 18 months.

Go to the Millis forum...basically you run the same freight...learn the system...don't be lazy...communicate...and drive when you can.

I checked their website. It seems they run nothing but dry vans.. Is that correct? I'm not into that. I don't want to wait around for "bumping docks" . I want flatbed/skateboards. I'll get fat, otherwise. $25 per tarp is OK with me. Beats the hell out of sitting around and waiting..

EDIT: That's a slick website, though. Pretty cool, if you asked anyone. Also, they're paying .36 per mile.. That's pretty good. But, that's a per diem discount for IRS, I think.

Superior Carriers hires out of Greenville Tech I believe. I think our Greer terminal has donated a truck and trailer to them. Give the terminal a call at 800-269-7727 to see if they are willing to take on an entry level driver. It is a far better opportunity than most any other you will get out of school.
