Started my New job as a fuel Hauler in Jacksonville, FL.
Wanted to wait after a few days of doing the work before posting. So far, I LOVE hauling fuel! It's very rewarding in that it's good pay and it's honestly not a hard job (labor intensive anyway). I know it's dangerous work, not saying it's easy and anyone could do it, but I do enjoy the job very much.
First day I worked we moved 4 loads, total of about 32,000 gallons. Worked yesterday and pulled a couple loads, was supposed to be off today but Decided to work a short day, Pulled two loads working about 8 hours. Been working nights, 12am-12pm. When I get on my own I'll be working 6/2 shift 5pm-5am. I'm definitely looking forward to that, I love nights and plus making extra money just for working nights is nice.
I'll try to keep this thread up

Hey, just saw your post lurking around the forum tonight and figured I'd chime in. I'm newbie green as grass, but while in school a local fuel delivery co dropped off 2 applications with the school manager and said sendme your 2 best students. Me andanother guy got called to the school managers office and were offered the opportunity. The interview was pretty much just a formality; they seemed to have already decided to hire us, lol! Test ride was Thursday, Monday is physical and drug test, then orientation starts Tuesday. I asked the fella on the test ride why the company was willing to take such newbies with no experience, and he said it was because we were recommended by the school, that in my case I was a little older and had some other real world experience (retired military), but mainly they had good results training newbies that dont already have bad habits ingrained. Maybe that gives hope to others who are worried about not having the years of experience asked for in the job advertisement...just go shead and apply anyways.? Anyways, its an established local company with a track record of retaining their veteran drivers, the pay and benefits package is outstanding, and the people I met so far, including my boss, seem genuinely good. I think I'll enjoy it. Best of luck to you DD!

Good luck to you and I'm glad to hear you got on with a good compnay bro, keep us updated man.
Are y'alls trucks automatics? Thats something im having to get used too lol -
No autos in the fleet. Its a mix of Petes and KWs, wish I had more specs, but I'm still just learning to differentiate btw the makes, let alone the models. All day cabs. Thx for the reply! I'll do my best to keep up with the thread as well.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
10-4, we got Cacadias and T-660's, all autos, and all daycabs with 46' tankers. Air disc brakes stop on a dime, I'm having to get used to them.
My trainer is pretty cool, though they way he treats the engine of the truck makes me cringe lol. I think he believes the operating range of the engine is 1900-2400rpm lol -
Thats gotts make grabbing gears interesting, lol!
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
