Im a veteran and Swift is wanting to charge me $2900 to attend their school. Keeping in mind they will deduct this from my check for the 1st year. Does CR england charge for attending their academy and does anyone have any helpful information about CR England in comparison to Swift. No negative posts about either companies, im only interested in information about the academies from people who have attended them. Thanks
CR England OR Swift Academy??

Between the two...Even if Swift Charged $10,000 and CRE was FREE you'd be better of at Swift.
BigRigEvan, Cbake84, pattyj and 2 others Thank this. -
My advice, being a vet myself.... take the GI bill and go to a community college or technical school and get your license that way. Then you will not be under contract with a company you probably won't like...just my 2 cents.
pattyj Thanks this. -
This is like picking getting shot in the head or being thrown off a bridge on to a busy interstate. I guess go to Swift, CRE is a bunch of scumbag liars.
pattyj Thanks this. -
Yes, Swift will deduct it for that first year.
Then they will give it back during the second year, from what I understand, so you end up getting free training if you stay for 2 years.
Someone, I'm sure, will correct me if I'm mistaken.
Swift can be a pain in the rear at times, but I think they are probably the best starter company out here.
I have been here for nearly 3 years and have no plans to go elsewhere. Many drivers have been with Swift much, much longer.pattyj Thanks this. -
VET here too, I already had my CDL. I went with Swift. Dry van is better. No need to find a wash out for your trailer, or deal with reefer fuel, delays at the shipper, pre-tripping a reefer, etc. I went to a refresher course to CRE years ago, I told them about my history of a past employment termination. I had to write a statement to get approval before coming. They approved me. I go down there, almost get done with the school and they kick me out because some big shot saw my file and didn't want me. CR England, no thank you! They did me a favor. Swift is the way to go for starting off. I don't know how CRE stays in business. Besides, CR ENGLAND is a TEAM only company the last time I looked, no single drivers unless you want to lease a truck and go broke.

there are other companies with training as well, I know Shneider has a training program from what someone was telling me and I think prime might too now. As for Swift and CRE I would choose Swift as the lesser evil.
All megas have their pros and cons, no matter what you choose there will be something you dont like about them and most of them have the same issues, the grass isnt always greener on the other side....
I did my training with Swift, yes they have issues to deal with too but they are a good starter and training company and they are more willing to work with you when you have a mistake as well, when i had an accident they didnt fire me like some companies will, instead they gave me some extra training and the best part another chance....I am still with them for now.
The way the loan works they take out $75 a week but they give back half of it, after one year you have paid $1900, then they continue to pay you until that $1900 gets reversed. -
I don't understand why u are insisting on going thru a company assisted training program. U want be getting paid while earning yo cdl. Why not go thru a independent program and then sign up for turin re-embursement. With u being a vet I sure yo state have a program 2 help u get cdl. It sound like u are researching company training research independent programs. That was the company will be paying u back instead of u paying them back. As far as yo question I went 2 cr england with hard copy and they stuck me in that class for people needing cdl. It's.a joke they have so many people in the training program u want get much btw hours 2 learn anything I felt sorry for them people. They expect u 2 learn on yo own I don't stay far from swift academy in millington, tn(memphis) it's ok I personally never went thru their school. I have seen their training trks often. But I did attend the training program. If u get a trainer like I did she sucked. Didn't teach me #### but I do give it 2 swift memphis dc they have a backing class.and the instructors take the time and actually teach u how 2 do things the easy way without getting flustered as many new drivers do. If u are insisted on going thru a company between yo choices u named pick swift . My orientation class had maybe 20-25 people. they give u lunch. U are on yo own for dinner and breakfast . Then lunch is off a food trk where food is not that great. The hotel they put u in is ok in memphis. TN there is a restaurant down stairs. And there is 2 of u in room but with cr england they put 8 in 1 room with metal bunk beds and the room is not big enough for that I went 2 the salt lake facility . They say the 1 in tx is better but not they put u up in roach motel. I suggest u get your cdl outside the company u start with

I went to the Phoenix location, the hotel used was ok, they use a much nicer hotel now though once I finished pfft. I also had my orientation in Fontana, CA and the hotel was 2 people per room or you could pay $23 and have the room to yourself which I did one night and had my wife come visit, they also had breakfast and at orientation you got lunch which wasnt too bad. I am sure each location is different for everything, right now I know the Phoenix location is the perfect timing with the weather, not too hot. I dont know where the op is from though since I did not see that posted or in profile.

You are not looking for negative posts about either company? Fine. Just don't come whining about how horrible they are. We told you so.
Cbake84 and Balakov100 Thank this.
