Well, follow to close and it will happen quite often.
In winter weather, you should increase the following distance to allow more space to stop if needed. Also, you see the driver is looking to see if it is clear to pass. Unless the front vehicle is going exceptionally slow, there was no need to try to pass on this 2 lane road.
Is he lucky? Well yes he is, but next time maybe not!!!!:biggrin_25512:

Don't ever let your guard down and don't ever forget how dangerous this profession can be. About a month ago on a 2 lane interstate traveling @65MPH with a four wheeler in front of me, I had a truck from a CDL mill pull out from the shoulder right in front of us. Fortunately I was looking at him when I saw the truck hop and I realized he just popped the clutch.

I put my directional on and forced my way into the left lane. Fortunately the 4 wheeler in the left lane, right around my mid directional yielded, instead of speeding up like they normally do. If he had not, the 4 wheeler in front of me likely would be dead, and the other driver and myself would be in the hospital or dead ourselves.

As I blew by him laying on my air horn he looked out the window with that "What did I do wrong" dumfounded look on his face.

That guy is likely still out there as are many others. One day you may run accross him. Always be ready and know where you are going to go before it happens. If you have to start looking for your "out" after it happens it may well be too late.

    Be safe out there.

I always assume every vehicle near me is about to do something stupid. Keeps me out of trouble, at least so far.

I agree, one thing I repeated constantly when my son got his regular DL was that it isn't DRIVING that's so dangerous, it's the other idiots out there. You have to constantly anticipate the unexpected.

That being said, there's a reason Russia and so many European countries (or companies) now require or encourage dash cameras for evidence in accidents - their roads suck, speeds are higher and their drivers tend to be more aggressive/ less experienced. (I'm talking regular drivers, not Truckers) I'm not saying it couldn't happen here - it can, but it's less likely.

Your gonna see some crazy stuff happen...you get to witness the aftermath of crazy stuff a few times a week...when your driving you start paying attention to all the tire tracks and where they lead...OFF THE ROAD!

It's not how many near death experiences you have, it's how many near death experiences you don't have that matter.

In this video the conditions don't warrant trying to pass, either by the trucker with the dash cam or the oncoming trucker passing the snow scaper. Highly avoidable situation.

Someone was looking over everyone involved, That truck was way to close to do anything but go in his pants should something be in his way out in that other lane, These things don't happen if you plan your next move when this happens, one should know what they are going to do BEFORE the situation is upon them, that way it is the right decision and no one made a mistake. Good Luck out there it is dangerous but it is something guys go 7 Million without a scratch, You know this guy has had it planned what he was going to do.
