Sorry for the long post but Im trying to go into detail so no one else makes the same mistake with them.

I never thought I would be doing this, I really liked this company they were my home and in many ways felt like my family for they last 4 1/2 years. Problems just started this year they started becoming really shady, and doing alot of under handed stuff ripping me and from my understanding other drivers off. I am an owner-op and was buying my truck from them, and was making 73% of the retained line-haul. In HHG your line-haul is affected by the weight of the shipment, more weight the higher the line-haul. Problems started when I had a 13k pack and load out of Nashville Tn, Going to Tacoma Wa. Line-Haul before packing and fuel surcharge which is also based on weight was est at $9,000. Shipment weighed in a 15k. When my paperwork was rated I was told line-haul was now around $11,500 plus a $1,000 fuel surcharge.Needless to say I got my settlement and only got paid $4,000 for this shipment. I started looking at my detailed settlement, they litterly marked out the $11,500 with a pen, and wrote by hand $5,000 next to it, didn't pay me for the fuel surcharge and only paid me for half of the packing when in my contract it says I get 100% of packing. There response when I asked them about it was "we will look into it." My thoughts at this time were ok, this is the first time this happened, maybe it was a mistake. Few days later I get a settlement for -$9000.00. Im trying to figure out why. I see its 2 repair bills. I did put my truck in the shop, and did get a comcheck to pay for the repair because the repair was $4,500 and I just dont have that kinda cash laying in the truck. (Had to get the DPF filter cleaned and a few other things) Its always been my understanding that the money would come out my reserve account which I had $12,000 in. Nope They took it straight out my settlement and billed me twice for it. I called them on it, and they said I wasn't billed twice, my truck went to two different shops. They tried to tell me while my truck sat for 2 weeks at the dealership being worked on I went and got my truck and took it to THEIR shop and had another $4,500 in repairs done and took it back to the dealer to finish working on it. Problem is they dont own a mechanic shop. They have a trailer repair shop but they do not work on tractors, so its highly unlikely I took my tractor there. After a bout a week of fighting I finally got most of my money back. But still the pay from the pack and load wasn't fixed. So now im in Tacoma Wa, waiting on a load. Well they find me 13k loading out the warehouse going to plano Tx and another 10k down in long beach ca, heading to Atl. I got paid correctly on the 10, the 13k is a different story. The 13k had a $7,000 linehaul but all I was paid was $588. $588 isnt even enough to cover my labor for the job much less fuel. Once again in an argument with them while I was actually unloading the 10k in atl. As Im leaving Atl I have to get fuel, I stop at the Pilot on 85 ex 41. My fuel cards have been turned off. Lucky me I had a 1/4 of a tank and was only 60 miles from home and one of their agents. needless to say I got home cleaned the truck out and dropped it at the agent, and had a new job the next day at another moving company. Which is where I am typing this from now.

    Wow that's crazy.
I'm sorry you went through that .
Almost seems Like they wanted the truck back and were attempting to bankrupt you right out of it.
I hope you get an attorney and attempt to recover every truck payment you made with some extra for the all that reported criminal activity.

So now what? Do you have a plan to recover what they owe you?

Some Monday morning quarterbacking here, but I would say you should not have dropped the truck off until the money situation was settled with them or you had gotten an attorney on the case. You're talking about well over $10K the way it looks. No need to tell them you had gotten another job either since you aren't they're employee.

Was it the main office that was doing this or were you paid through a specific agent? They either wanted you gone real bad or more likely, are in serious financial trouble.
