My own personal opinion= marijuana should be legal. I don't smoke it. Have no desire to. I did long ago. But the fact remains that it is illegal in 48 states and it is not allowed for CMV drivers, something I am total agreement with. Pot slows your reaction time. It is a mind altering drug. You are driving an 80,000 lb vehicle or in some cases one that weighs 105,500 lbs. Those are facts. There is nothing you can do to get around those facts. Drugs and alcohol and trucking do not mix. If you want to drive a CMV then you cannot smoke pot. Period. End of story.

Pot Smokers have every right to smoke weed ''off duty''..Just like the Alcohol Addicts do ''off duty''

Laws or no Laws...It is ''equality'' and ''Fair''...And by the way i do neither.Don't touch any of it,i like to live healthy..

No actually they don't. Drug test. Get caught with it in your system, and you're done.

Weed smokers have the right to smoke weed while off duty just as they have the right to rob banks while off duty. Illegal is illegal is illegal. Pot is illegal. That is the difference. You have the right to do whatever you like while off duty, sure. But your job and the government also has the right to fire you for using an illegal substance. They do not want illegal substance users, bank robbers, speeders, reckless drivers, rapists or murderers. And even alcohol is included if you get dwi's in your off duty time. I, personally, could care less if pot were legal. I don't smoke it, but I do not see the harm in it while off duty. However, it IS illegal today. That's it. End of story.

Slightly off topic, but just so you know, the state of Washington is now more strict on drivers using weed than before they passed the legalization law.

The thing I like about the Washington state law is that they lowered the "positive test threshold" down to 5 nanograms, which is a ZERO TOLERANCE level. So if you smoke today, you can't legally drive for a week.....so they have actually made weed use more restrictive in the state. But they have allowed possession of small amount of weed. So you can carry your weed in your car, but you can't smoke it.........WOW, the stoners must have been in charge of lobbying for that law!!!!!
