When you say Melita brand do you mean the basket that you pour the hot water in that brews into a cup. Like when you are at Starbucks and they do a pour over for you? There are several brands and styles on ebay if you use that. Even saw a pretty cool looking clear model. I'm a Keurig fanatic but may have to look at this route as space is everything.

The melitta #2 is just a plastic "funnel" that you put the funnel shaped filter into, sits on top of a coffee mug:

I'm looking forward to having the smell of coffee grounds in the garbage bag while I drive... might be enough to keep me awake, won't have to drink as much coffee, and double as an air freshener!

what are some veggies that keep for a good while without refridgeration and such? I thought about buying a bulk pack of V8s, but man, so salty.

Without refrigeration?? Root veggies maybe? Even an ice chest would be better than nothing... Celery wrap in foil, don't know why but it keeps a while doing that; or cut and clean the celery and place in a ziplock with a touch of water. Keeps the stalks crisp. Peppers, keep whole until you want to munch them. Carrots also do well for a couple days when in a slightly moist environment... Some stores (Loves included) have some veggies already prepped and packaged.

My wife's doctor recommended the regular V-8. He said this whole low/no salt thing is not good for everyone. Your body can more easily eliminate too much salt rather than operate with too little. It can't make what isn't there.

Obviously, you know your own body better than anyone else and should follow your own doctor's advice.

Just thought... What about the V8 Splash?? They even have a Lite version that tastes pretty good.

I recently bought a lunch box stove and will be giving it a try.

Yesterday I bought a bunch of the foil pans at Goodwill for $1.49 a 3 pack. I already put the leftovers from dinner last night into one, covered it with foil and put it in the freezer.

My plan is to make several meals at home, freeze them and then keep them in my cooler on the truck until used. I know they will thaw out in the cooler eventually, but I think I should be able to keep at least 8 of them in the cooler and even after thawing, the last few to be used should still be safe to eat, as they are already cooked.

Me and the fam used to buy Splash ( fruit ) exclusively , but have this past year or so switched to Fusion , which is the fruit/veggie blend . Its a nice in between flavor which is not too sweet, and no too veggie .

V8 has come a long way over years offering more than just those hangover cans that required celery and vodka .

When I went out with my trainer for 6 weeks I opted not to use his cooler because it was an ice chest that normally had a layer of water in it that smelled nasty. Therefore I existed for those 6 weeks without any type of cooler or refrigeration in early summer. My produce was bananas, apples, sugar snap peas, carrots, bell peppers, basil, and cherry tomatoes. After stocking up I ate those items that would spoil quickest first. Sugar snap peas and carrots do pretty well, but on hot days without a cooler I would need to eat my way through the produce within a few days. Then it's time for restocking.

I agree regarding V8, way too salty.
