personally, i don't even know how dot can even stand to look at logs from the box. logs from the box look like a cluster F. very disorganized.

Yup, missed the out of hours part. I dont run a box so i dont have to worry about it moving lines. And since he is running a box he shouldnt even be logging anything on paper if the box is working, (you all missed that one). I must be doing something right on my paper logs. H.ave days where i never leave the yard, days where i never leave town, days where i leave town and work in town or just plain leave town and cross 4 states and log almost 650 miles for the day and my logs pass JJ Keller every day.

Here's your answer from the FMCSA 395.8 interpretations.

As you notice instead of zigzag changes on the graph you would first total stop time on line 4 followed by all driving time on line 3. That concludes that town. You don't get free drive time.

I don't know how it would play out with a EOBR since it records moving and I never had one, but paper log it would be easy to do.

Let's say you had 3 drops in Houston. They take 30 minutes each. It takes 15 minutes to drive from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. You would log 1.5 hours unloading followed by 30 minutes drive time. But that drive time can continue to your next drop outside town. In other words just group that whole time in Houston, line 4 followed by line 3.

If you stay within 100 air miles from your terminal and return to your terminal within 12hrs and do not exceed 60 hours in seven days you do not need logs.

What?!?! You signed something saying that? I'd have walked tge second that paper landed in front of me. No way I'd let that happen. It tells me everything i need to know about that company. Seems people walk out on them a lot.

Are you a local driver within 100 air mile radius and return to center each day? If so you don't need log unless over 12 hour day. I ran ltl and did this each day. Was nice being home in bed each night but you bumping docks all day. In and out but no log needed. Well few times when worked 12-14 hour days.
