I know there is simular posts but....
I am looking for a company with a rider policy (girlfriend not married) and a pet policy (small dog). I have dry van and reefer experience. Most companies i have researched with both seem to hae a spouse only rider policy. I would rather not do a lease....i fancy a positive paycheck at the end of the week. Thanks for any suggestions.

I hate to say it but I think the only 2 ways you're going to get your girl and your dog in the truck without hiding one or both of them is to either lease or buy a truck and lease it on with a company...most companies are very reluctant to allow company drivers to put pets on their trucks. Blame the airheads who either let their dogs/cats trash the company trucks or had some weird exotic (heard horror stories of drivers who quit and left a large snake, a large iguana, a couple of irritable rats, and <no BS> a small alligator for the recovery driver to find/deal with). Have you had a bad personal experience with leasing or is your aversion due to all the horror stories all over the forums? I'll admit it isn't for everyone but if you are willing to work your ### off it can be worth it (but do your homework before you sign on). I will confess there are times I miss being a company driver, but have been leasing for just over a year (1st time) and doing okay. If you do find a company that will allow pets and riders and they treat you well please let everyone know who they are...they may be flooded with responsible pet owners. My dog is a 60-lb Labrador mix who leaves the truck as clean as he found it (gonna try to post a pic).

I was going to say the list that didn't allow pets may be shorter...AM I wrong?

I don't think so walstib, I always see companies advertising rider policies but rarely if ever do I see a pet policy advertised for company drivers. (That your Volvo in that schweet pic?)

To bad your in NC. Know my company allows pets and pretty sure they have a rider policy. Course, we're in Omaha, NE and we're an out and back company. There's 5 or 6 of us tho who don't live here and they have no problem with getting me home when I want.

Check out Abilene Motor Express (Richmond/Wytheville VA) though they have a 25 pound limit on the dog. $500 pet deposit that is refundable IF the dog does NO discernible damage. They take 100 dollars per paycheck every two weeks until it is satisfied. You have to have been there 90 days before you can have a rider and insurance for that is $16/month. This is a really good company, really good trucks, really good maintenance department. All trucks are AUTOMATICS. And the folks here are terrific. Orientation is 2-2 1/2 days not paid, but do not let that be a deterrent. Just started here and I love it. Good luck. Tell them George sent you. LOL.

Werner has both. Pet fee is $250 plus $5 week. Rider is about $12 a month.

Abilene in Richmond, VA. I run with the wife's dog most of the time as my Shepard stays with her as my primary so she has time to grab her gun if she needs to.
