In my life, have found that the Universe has a way about closing all the exits and leaving only one way forward, littering the sidelines with stuff I had thought important, now discarded.

You know, I can't tell you how many times I've thought, 'Okay, fine', but a postcard, a memo, a phone call or a 'sign'--hey, this is the Universe talking here, listen up, Universe calling--would have been nice instead of making carnage of what I thought valuable.

Someone said I just wasn't listening.

    Oh, yeah, sure.

At some point the thought does bubble up, "So this is what, why... okay, I get it." Don't necessarily like it all the same.

The short of it: Gitana's probably right.

    Something to think about...

I'm sure there is a reason. I'm not overly upset either. We were on a month to month lease so no eviction, no judgments on our credit and none of our things got ruined, thank goodness. Since we've been together the past 4 1/2 years we've moved a lot. Since I turned 18 I've moved 23 times. I quit asking why a long time ago, but it helps I've always been a "go with the flow, everything happens for a reason" kinda person. I'm excited to go, see places I'd probably never see otherwise & his family that are in MS and would be near impossible to see otherwise.

Well this has been an interesting 48 hours since we left VA. Sitting at a Giant Eagle shipper in Bedford Heights, OH. Was suppose to be here last night but the road turned to ice. At least it has stopped snowing for now.

So are you enjoying life on the road with your husband? You all be safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving wherever it is.

That giant eagle sucks. The last (and only) time I was there they took 7 hours to unload me. Place is a joke.

Yeah, it's not bad. I've never been to Ohio so I'm happy. & thanks, Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. We were only there for about two and a half hours. It wasn't too bad other than the yard dog kept cutting drivers off trying to back in.

I don't know how well they are doing now at USX, back awhile ago they were getting into the team driving as being preferred to them over solo's, and even lease operators were feeling the hurt since they cut there miles to favor company teams.

My husband started with USX in 2008 and ran solo, he had a Volvo that had a ton of room. I rode with him for a year, everytime we went back home I would acquire more stuff to add to it. We also had 1 little dorm refrigerator with the freezer, the Coleman cooler, microwave, George Foreman grill and the coffeepot. We only went back to the house every 3mo which was ok, but I missed a lot of our grandsons' being a baby, who was a week old when I left, see them for a few short hours and get work done and back out on the road.

By the end of 2008 though the loads spaced out further and by Jan of 2009 it was getting even worse, sit on the weekend till Monday, then perhaps another day of sitting till the next day waiting on a load. He got out of it then and we went back to managing a retirement facility.

Overall he had finally gotten a good fm who was located in the OKC terminal, then they reduced people and he lost her. He had loads which were impossible to deliver on the time frame given, so he would send in the eta as to what time he would be there, etc. He was never hit with a late, so have all the bases covered is a good idea.

The terminals had some better than others. Being able to do free laundry was great if you were at one, if there were a couple of them working at least.

You might just enjoy staying with him for now and enjoy being able to see new scenery. There are a lot of things you can help do, such as making sure all the load details are written down, the routes written and plotted out. We used a car Garmin, so you could not rely on it being truck safe. I would make sure I would use the info they provided as to what exit and roads to the shipper/receiver and then stay on the major big yellow roads.

I guess you have probably figured out when the truck stops for a 10 you go to bed. Makes it rough sometimes when you wait all day for a load then they finally hit you with one and it's time for bed again.
