I've been out here on and off since 1980 running coast to coast, and know most routes to the point I could almost run coast to coast blindfolded. However, I still appreciate being able to know at a glance how many miles to destination, or to be reminded of a weigh station as I'm thinking about getting in the left lane to pass a bunch of traffic, see traffic congestion areas and be notified of traffic backups in a timely manner (certainly can't rely on the CB for pertinent information today), which lane I need to be in (many of the cities and loops begin to look alike after a while and getting senile like I am, I sometimes forget if I need the left lane or right lane)
Nothing wrong with using technology so long as you know how to manage without it, as well. And don't rely too much on the GPS in the "last mile". Rely on company provided directions once you get close, whenever possible

Garmin has been around for a long time, they use Garmins in aircraft, military and other highly dependent places for consistent and accurate info.crankit2152 Thanks this.
