I feel you. I'm 54 and retiring from working as and accountant for an airline. I've been talking about and wanting to drive a truck and own one, but I've always put it off and left it as a dream. Now, I'm taking a giant step in life before it is too late to do what my heart has always wanted to do. I'm looking forward to the open road and the adventures ahead.

Team Klingon is doing well... Still doing our loop and have one more week out until we get a week off... During our week off, we are going to finish getting our On Spot chains (at least that's the plan) then no more weeks off until February... And maybe not then IF I can talk Klingon out of it... I like the $$ when we stay rolling (sounds of a slave driving whip in the background) :) Glad to know you are keeping your skills sharp... Keeping options open is a good thing!

I'm having to assume "sane" has a much looser definition out here! I drove all night, across ice an snow to make a early am delivery and now I'm exhausted and grumpy and hungry. So I'm gonna go eat some Denny's think of how to explain to my girl it's just another day (not goin home for Turkey), and then sleep all day, hoping I wake up to presets. Kind of a coin flip on a holiday weekend...

Possibly a student, with a trainer asleep in the bunk... I remember running 65 (governed speed) on a 'dry' road. Blowing snow going across it and an EMPTY trailer on 80... My trainer came out of the back from sleeping and mentioned the size of my 'cajonies'... I didn't realize I should be running slower with wind, MT trailer and possible icy conditions due to blowing snow... All I saw was the road was 'dry'... OOPS!

Go for it. You'll find there's a lot of us out here that came from other lines of work and just unhappy with what we were doing. It took me way too long to finally realize that there's more to this life than wealth. I can guarantee you this: You won't shut your truck down at night without a sense of accomplishment.

Except when they mess up your appointment time and you're a day out from missing Thanksgiving and have logged a whopping 267 miles this week. Those days are a trial. My student has no idea how loud I'm screaming on the inside! In other news, I got the sleepy guy, lol. He says he was sick. We will see if we ever get rolling again...

LOL, if he is sleeping then he truly wouldn't know how angry you were. I wonder how you can graduate him if he is sleeping and there are no loads. I stayed out during one thanksgiving, never again. I told my DM to get me home by the 25th and I ended up with a 300 mile deadhead and arrived on the 24th. Then he asked me if I wanted to go back out on Saturday and I asked if he had loads to support my staying busy. I didn't get an answer till today. He sent a load that leaves on Monday. . . . I hate it when I am right.
