First off, drinking more or less water has nothing to do with gaining or losing FAT. It make affect water retention but doesn't affect FAT at all.
I gained, drum roll please. 140 pounds over 5 years of driving. I've gotten about 70 of it off now, had gotten up to 100 of it off but have done some back sliding. Need to hit it hard again and get down to the weight I want to be.
My problem was i was very active prior to becoming a truck driver and I competed in sports untill my early 30's. I was used to eating 6000 calories a day because I burned that many calories. Well when the exercise stopped the appetite stayed. First couple of years it was about 20 extra pounds each year. The next three the weight really piled on. It got to where I had serious health issues, it's been a struggle to get the weight back off.
Here's how you don't gain weight while driving. It is this simple so write it down because it will save your health.
DON'T TAKE IN MORE CALORIES A DAY THAN YOUR BODY USES IN A DAY.
If you get zero exercise that may be as little as 2000 calories a day. Track your calories everyday. This means writing down EVERYTHING you put in your pie hole. If you start gaining weight, eat less, if you start losing below your ideal weight eat more. Good Luck.

not true, I have known people in their 20's with diabetes and other health issues. Also has been known even though its rare people have heart attacks and die in their 20's so yes being healthy is important no matter your age. -

Well back when I was driving I could pretty much gauge how long somebody had been trucking by the size of the penske tire around their waist. BIGGER TIRE= more years

I used to drink a lot of beer and as a driver I don't. I have lost 20lbs in my first month as a driver.

Hubby and I had WLS back in '09... Combined we lost over 300#... With out it we wouldn't have been healthy enough to even PASS a DOT physical... With the usual bounce back from that and the sedentary lifestyle, we've gained about 30#... But are now maintaining by watching our 'munching' while driving. Using things that either satisfy the chew/munch without a large caloric hit... Mine is gum, hubby's is sunflower seeds...
