I appreciate your concern,
I don't want to bog down thread in details, but will say I've trusted him with my life, and believe he would be an asset to the road rather than a liability. In fact personally I'd prefer any 40 yr old that served our country honorably than the new breed the mega's are putting on the road. And I'm vouching for his recovery, clean and sober since his last DUI. I can only ask that you trust me.
Please I'm only asking for the facts, not opinions.
Thanks!

I know a guy that checked into getting records expunged. He had a DUI or maybe 2 a long time ago.
I thought that he found out that if you have your driving record or criminal history expunged or sealed and that if a company does a background or MVR check it will show that you had something and now it is expunged or sealed.
So my question is if a company see's that you have records expunged I would think they may not hire you as looking suspicious.
Like I say this is coming from a friend and I don't really know what shows up if things are expunged or sealed and I am not sure he knew what he was talking about.
If anyone else has info on this, please share. I told my friend most stuff I read on here says no DUI in 5 years and his are from a long time ago but he don't want to get black listed by a lot of companies. He said he is going to ask a lawyer and check on other sites too.TheDude1969 Thanks this. -
Everyone has some issues in life if you have been clean from drinking also clean mvr for 3 to 5 years you do have a good chance. Usually dui won't show up for after 5 or maybe 10 years. I had 2 DUI 7 to 10 years ago and did not show up and got a good job with no issues with my license or getting a trucking job every company is different,.

So if a company does a 5 year mvr check and nothing shows up then that is good I guess. If you check your own mvr will the DUI'S still show up.
My friend says his are still on his record and he is afraid if he says no DUI in the last 5 yrs that they may get a print out that shows what he see's when he checks his own.
So i guess if they check for a 5 yr mvr and you had a dui 6 yrs ago it will not show up.
I told my friend to just do a couple online job apps and see what happens, his are over 15 yrs old I think. -
The only problem may be that he let the problem carry into the last ten years. DUI's from the last millennium aren't really a problem at many companies. It gets progressively more difficult from one DUI and up. 3 or more can be tough but two are doable.
Just call companies and ask if that will disqualify the person. Don't fill out an app with a company until you know that it won't be a problem. Prequalify potential employers and go from there.
Oh, and pay no attention to the guys in the brown button ups blowing their whistles, pointing their finger and throwing stones. They show up like moths on topics like this, even tho the vast majority of people who are wrecking trucks and killing people these days aren't drunk or high.TheDude1969 Thanks this. -
In my state of IL, if you do a MVR check for job apps you will see identically the same info no matter who is asking. I believe its either 3 or 5 yrs. (3yrs being last I checked, but rules have changed and maybe 5yrs now). Problem may arise from arrest records/criminal background check, especially so if any were felony DUI.

Trust me i wouldnt want that Risk on the road either but take my word, some crap bag outfit will take him on.

Yes, definitely want to disclose everything. They can find it in court records if its not on MVR. And they may not find it until long after hiring you, when their insurance company digs around. Then they'll fire you for lying on the app. Much easier not having stuff hanging over your head, especially when it doesn't need to be. Some have probably gotten away with it, some probably haven't. But it's not worth hiding it when you can disclose it and still find good jobs.TheDude1969 Thanks this.

in utah, there are 2 mvr's you can pull. 3 year and lifetime. might be different if your a company doing the checking vs. individual doing his own looking.
expungement. means ERASED. i've delivered military loads to which they ALWAYS check my background before allowing me on military property. they can't find anything on me. and say i should have NO problems going into canada. only way any one will see my dui. is if they do a lifetime mvr.
your criminal history doesn't say expunged or sealed. instead, it says "NO RECORDS FOUND"
but, expungement only works on misdemeanors. i think your SOL on felonies.TheDude1969 Thanks this. -
