If you smoked for many years, why are you quitting now? If it's solely due to trucking and the job, are you able to stay away from an addictive drug that you have been using for many years? Are you able to remain clear of the friends that you have made over the years that may still be using the drug? Are you willing to make the sacrifices in that sort of lifestyle that you will need to get into trucking.
Just from what you have said here, you went to a drug screen knowing that you carried traces of the drug still in your system. I have never met a smoker who did not know all of the ins and outs of testing and was aware of exactly what they would have to do to pass the tests.
You can try and apply elsewhere, but unless this is a long term life change, it's going to be of limited duration. You won't make it in trucking if you are still under the influence of marijuana and the culture surrounding it. I wish you best of luck, but I am not hopeful here. -
I drank gallons of water every day took flushing pills and thought id pass.
Yes i dont talk to any of my old friends anymore.I guess when you quit smoking you find out who your friends are.I have no girlfriend and no kids and im ready to have a serious trucking career.I just hope my career is not over before it started. -
People call it an addictive drug because thats what the media and government would like for you to believe. Most of the pot heads I know dont smoke it cuz they are addicted they smoke it cuz they want to. I just love it when a non-smoker talks like their an authority on the subject.
I have been a smoker for many years and have quit several times and was able to do so with no problem and know other pot heads that have done the same. If you want to talk about an addictive drug then lets talk about the addictiveness of cigarettes. Cigs are alot harder to give up than the weed is. -
is there anyone out there that has been in my situation?

My ex was a daily smoker for over 30 years before he went into trucking. He quit 3 months before starting school just to make sure all that built up stuff was out of his system. And he tested with a drugstore test to make sure first. He has now been smoke free for over a year now so it can be done.

20 years in the military, and since then as a trucker. So no, I am not a pothead. And the point I was making, that the original poster seemed to understand even if you didn't, was that it is a social drug, and if you don't break out of that social circle, then you are going to most likely be in the presence of the drug. And for a CDL driver, that's pretty well a kiss of doom, because even second hand smoke is enough to get results in testing.
As for your comment that "they don't smoke it because it's addictive, but because they want to", well, I'll keep that one in mind in case we want to run some end of the year humor awards. -
