Highest paying jobs out of school

When you say "you will work harder", what is that referring to? Why is flatbed trucking harder than reefer's (for example)?

Definitely this is something I'd be interested in. One of the reasons I'm getting back into trucking is to get back into shape after years in a sedentary job.

This place is like a goldmine of information like this.

 

Not every truck driver drives 11 hours and sits all day. I can imagine a lot of jobs that are much more sedentary than mine.

 

You wanna get ambulatory and walk a lot? Go to work in retail for Home Depot or Lowe's: your feet will want to choke you after a week.

 

Sad thing is your right... Gotta put your time in with the start up companies to lead to better things.. It sux big time but everyones gotta pay.. Im working local for a grocery company starting pay is 22.00

 

There is more to life than money; there is self-respect too. You could probably make more money as, say, a shift manager in a fast food joint, but would you still be able to look yourself in the mirror?

The first year as a driver, you won't make squat, but you will be a TRUCK DRIVER!

There is something to be said for that.

Now then; someone will come along in a minute and brag about how much they made in their first year, just starting out, but for most of us, the first year's take-home checks are, um, "severely modest".

I prefer to think of of my current wages as "apprenticeship wages" (and I remind myself that after one year, I'll make the big bucks!)
