My dm always told me I wouldn't get a load going to ohio. About 2 hours past my house. Said I'd always bt or dh home. But Wednesday I got a load going to grove port. Knew I didn't have enough time to deliver it then go home. Wouldn't be home till 4pm thanksgiving. But dinner was at 2. So I Called dispatch and asked if I could take it home and deliver Friday. They said. I can't authorize you to deliver late. Well got fuel at petro in Gary. Took my 30 break and my batteries died (had problems earlier that day) took 2 hours to jump off the reefer. Well by then I knew i couldn't even make it to groveport so I just went home. Called dispatch in the morning and They said as long as you're home. Just deliver Friday. Was pretty close to not making it home. Pretty pissed my dm set it up like that. Knowing where I was picking up at RDALS takes 5 hours to load you. But i got home for thanksgiving and didn't mind going out Friday and coming back home for the weekend.

Make sure that load gets noted you had mechanical issues, so you don't get dinged with a late/service failure... Especially as you had asked about swinging by the house and this breakdown facilitated that... Just sayin'Arkansas Frost and RizenPhoenix Thank this.

Yeah. I made sure to send a message over the Qualcomm. But no one said anything back. So that's when I called the next day and they told me to wait until Friday.
-
So I got rescheduled for tonight and the 99 is closed. Having a team sit in Greenbay for 2 1/2 days is kind of beyond ridiculous. Ah well, weekends almost over and I feel rested! Happy thanksgiving everybody. RIP Paul Walker, I'll be 2fast2furious all week now...
Buckeye91 Thanks this. -
Are you a full team, or trainer and student? UNFI was looking for a full team if that's what you are...
-
Teacher/student but he's driven some before. He's a little slow moving but I don't have to teach him how to drive.
-
Slow, huh? Maybe he should consider an office job with Kraft dedicated.Arkansas Frost and passion4polishing Thank this.
-
Ok... Oh we'll... UNFI doesn't take trainers... Can't depend on one student to other and their abilities.
-
Yeah, I'm learning that. Lol. Both of mine said "no problems driving". Both doubled their skills in one week. Still a ways to go with guy number 2 but he keeps at it and he doesn't complain. I think he'll do fine, though it's weird they send local drivers out over the road for a month. He'll be better for it, but a lot of my survival tips for living out here don't apply if you're going home on a regular basis.

First day back out and i'm remembering why I so rarely go home. Being out is easy enough for me, but leaving home is rough. Had a great turkey day weekend with the whole family, and that just makes the solitude of the box that much more absolute. I know it will be back to business as usual in a few days, but the getting back out really tests me.
Hope you all had a happy thanksgiving. Stay safe out there.Arkansas Frost and Lady K Thank this.
