Is that true or just a rumor?

Does Prime really put speed limiters on the trucks it leases out?

I know it makes sense, fuel wise, to drive slow anyway, but I'm hoping they don't actually force you to go slow and annoy everyone.

If they do have limiters in place, then what speed are they set to?

Yes Prime has their lease trucks governed. They seem to be somewhere between
62-65 mph for the most part. Not with them, just know from passing them.

yeah the lease ops are governed at 65. but u have to realize, when you are leasing a truck, you dont own it, so they still can and have the right to do that

This drives me insane. People being financially abused like they are paying 1800- 2 K a month on a lease and have no control what so ever. Especially speed. Saddens me to read this.

Last Prime lease operator I talked to said his truck note was $2500/month which
had to pay for three years and then the truck went back to them. He said he was
making $1500/wk take home being paid on per centage. Numbers didn't sound
right at all so I politely ended the conversation. I mean there's still insurance,
maintenance accounts, escrow, taxes, fuel, etc.

Oh my heavens. I kid you NOT !! Makes me sick people taking advantage of like that. 36 times 2500= $90,000 OH MY OH MY!!! MORE than a new truck owning payment. I can't believe all those people leasing all in that bad shape they can' t put down small payment and have a little bit of credit to get financed for a new. :-( I give them so much props for at least wanting to be O/O somewhat and running a business. Sure they deserve more out of it tho.

Even when you lease on your own truck(one you already own or are paying a bank for) with most companies they are going to have you govern your truck to a specific speed. This isn't don't because they care about you making money. It's done so they get a break on their insurance and to limit their liability in case of an accident. Otherwise they would be willing to let you drive as fast as you want because it gets the freight their quicker and they aren't paying for the fuel.

We are all gonna be governed to 65 one day soon anyway.

I lease a trk thru hill bros omaha ne. I have paid off 2 other trk's with them and still have them. They actually follow the truth in leasing regs. Trk is not speed limited, can take it where you wish for repairs, take time off when you want, fuel where you want, buy your own insurance if you wish. And as they get to know you and you payoff the first trk or sell it. You can order you a new one with the color and specs you want for the most part. As long as it's a volvo, international or kw. I use to have 3 trk's and trailers and then got with a divorce. Had to sell everything and split monies with ex. So it ruined credit. I have a 3013 kw t660 with studio fully loaded with a tri pac and only pay 2000.00 a month. I have my ins thru ooida and run on my own credit card for fuel and do my own repairs at home. So not all companies micro manage your every move while leasing. Just another point of view. Also if you don't want to stay at hill and want to take trk to another carrier you can do that as well as long as you meet their criteria.

Something NOT jiveing here Jason. Where is the benefit for the company if you paying 2k on new tractor and no limitations and can go anywhere to lease on. You and I both know all the truth not out there. Granted maybe your happy but lets spill all facts. How long is LEASE and interest? No Governor on THEIR trucks your leasing?? Hummmmmmm
