I finished school last week and got my CDL last tuesday. Now I'm off to Maverick Sunday to start training for the glass division. Any tips for a newbie going to Maverick.

number one don't walk on the grass. Take it seriously because they are watching your every move even when you're not in the classroom. They want Professional drivers and they will not hesitate to remove those who do not portray a positive company image. Welcome to maverick! You will not be disappointed in choosing this company, I love it here.

I worked for Maverick for two months. It was a really great experience. Only reason I'm not with them now is because of issues I was having at home. The instructors are great, and have more knowledge to share than you can imagine. Such an unbelievably friendly group that will bend over backwards to help you succeed as long as you give it nothing less than 100%. The hours are long, and can be extremely physical, especially the tarping on a windy day, but its totally worth it. The driver trainers are pretty cool too. If you're blessed to have earl as your glass driver trainer, then you'll do great! My fleet manager was a really awesome guy too. Its a really stand up operation. Keep your head up, your mind open, ASK QUESTIONS, and keep a positive attitude and you'll do great! Wish you all the best!!

I worked for TMC for years but almost went to Maverick. I believe you can judge a company by their drivers. I never met a Maverick driver I didn't like. That being said I believe you made a good decision. Also you rarely see a bad tarp job on a Maverick load. Best of luck in your new adventure. And it is an adventure.
