Does anyone know how to keep the truck from shutting off after 5 min?

Ok, cheap company didn't put in APU's or Opti-Idle. There is a bunk heater but it kills the batteries after 6-8 hrs use. My goal here is not to idle all night, but to idle for an hour before bed to top off the batteries.

I've tried to release the brakes and chock the wheels (no good). Cruise control won't engage with brakes set. Next attempt will be a rod in between seat and throttle. Any other ideas?

Try just taking off the tractor break and bump the idle up that way. Or tuat doesnt work there maybe a temp sensor near your 5th wheel hand warmers in a sock over the sensor will trick it to thinking its over 100 degrees out and it should stay running

Really depends on how the company has it setup I think.

Mine has it I can cancel it whenever it comes up with it comes back EVERY 5 minutes.
Cruise Control works when Idling but it doesn't stop the timer.

I can release truck brakes and set the Trailer Brakes only and I get a 30 min timer in that case.

Looks like cruise wont set with rig out of gear. Releasing brakes doesn't do it for idle or cruise.

Did you look for a temp sensor near the fifth wheel?

if your bunk heater kills batteries in 6to8 hrs i would get batteries load tested . also if you run reefer you can run a jumper wire off reefer you only need a positive truck is already grounded to trailer

Batteries load test good (ha ha) and no shorts found. This is a common problem with this setup on Cascadia within our company.

I used to work for Pepsi, and our trucks did that as well. I was in a Freightliner business class. I waited the five minutes, when the check engine light started flashing, I tapped on the service brake. After tapping on the brake, the truck would stay running.

Apparently the answer from the shop is a door stop between the pedal and engine cover. Or a stick between seat and pedal.
