If you are wanting to do it yourself versus hiring people to get it up and running for you, it would be best for you to be one of us to see what all you have to go through out here and to learn the MANY rules and regulations out here. Half a millions is pocket change if you go with inexperienced drivers. One accident and you could be all done. Ooida will answer a lot of your questions but getting a cdl yourself and spending at least a year out here will answer a whole lot more.

With $500,000 you can probably buy two truck's and about two trailers, get them insured and all the permits needed to have them out on the road. You'd really haft to scrape there.

i appreciate some of your frank advices and helpful insights. I'm thinking to actually go myself with a driver first times to make sure everything is properly done. I have a friend who have around 40 trucks and he only been driver for a little while. He said the business is very simple and he makes about 500$ per week for each truck. Some people said with 500k you buy only 2 trucks, well.. i think with this money you can actually get 10 trucks in good condition (like volvo). As i stated before, my real profit is somewhere else ( like gasoline ) so right now my only concern is how to motivate the drivers, i was thinking to start doing a split 50% of profit with each driver (the industry average is 40 c/mile).

$500 a week per truck sounds like a lot of money, till one eats a transmission, that's all 10 trucks profits for a week, one needs new tires, another 10 trucks profit gone for a week. Do you know about the electrical problems Volvos are notorious for? Who's going to keep up with all the paperwork for 10 trucks? Do you know the average shop rate is right around $100 an hour?

How do you make $1 Million in trucking, You start with $2 Million and wait.

Even a brand new Volvo will cost you about $110,000 a peace if not more, the trailer I would think would cost about a another 80-100k new that is. Your probably would haft to buy some raggedy ### truck's and trailers, I mean you'd haft to be dealing with some issues ,witch you don't even have a clue about.

plus with 500 dollers a week I'd be thinking about bailing out at the first chance I could get with a real paying job. Just do this buy the trucks and pay your drivers about 850 a week and you put the rest away for repairs and you can run your own company for zero commission in revenue and every one would be happy. Finance gets paid, mechanics making money, driver gets paid right and you own your own company. Lol.
