I have been wondering about this for a while , Are these 2 different companies ?
Anyone have pros and cons for one or the other ?
Seems like Conway Truckload might be an okay company.

Same company with two divisions. Conway Truckload is nothing to write home about based on what I read.
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
They are two divisions of the same company.
Con-way freight is LTL -- they work docks, go to multiple customers a day (unless linehaul), they're paid hourly and/or hourly+mileage. The vast majority are home nightly or at least very regularly...
Con-way truckload is a over the road truckload company. Aside from regional guys, most drivers stay out 2-12 weeks at a time, are paid by the mile, and really the only time they touch freight is when they have to put a cargo securement strap inside a trailer.
There is a sub forum here just for con-way: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/con-way/ It is mostly truckload folks, but there are a handful of freight peeps too. -
Freight is home daily. Paid hourly for drops/hooks,fueling, break downs. Camera and EOBRS are being installed system wide in our trucks to monitor driver behavior and shifting patterns. Get coached if you fall outside the parameters. Your experience at freight will depend greatly on location and freight volumes there. But as with all of corporate america, worker wages and bennies are squeezed in the name of more profits. I will be neutral in my opinions..But in most locations, you will be real acquainted with a forklift more than a truck.

Good thing about Con Way truckload is that they have no limit on pets.
-
My exact consciences! I don't Like Conway T/L at all.

We applied at Con Way truckload once for team driving then got an email from them thanking us for applying for the driver recruiter position. Some kind of glitch on their website. We took that as a sign to not work there.

I had a great experience getting my start at Truckload and work at Freight now. Good places to start IMO.
double yellow Thanks this. -
If you work @ one and transfer to the other your 401k vesting years and match amount go with you
However you will have to start a new account up.
Kinda a neat deal if you want to switch between local & otr.
However freight doesn't count exp from ctrq to their bids.
Most job ppl aren't concerned with benefits but thought I'd post that if you were a career guy. -
DSR (Former Employee), LONG BEACH ULB TERMINAL CALIFORNIA
Pros: pay, weekends off, home daily(though only long enough to sleep)
Cons: horrible treatment, cameras in cabs, no breaks
Long days without breaks, they call all their employes DSR's (Driver Sales Representative) do to a loophole in the labor laws that state labor laws do not apply to sales reps, if you work the dock all day and decide to take a break after 12 hours they can and WILL fire you for stealing company time!
Aside from being treated horribly this is a great place to make money if you cant find a driving job elsewhere, they start at $20hr (or $0.42mi for LH) and work you 60-70hrs a week whether you like it or not, If you work on linehaul plan on sitting on the side of the road for a few hours every Saturday morning because they WILL run you out of hours every Friday night.
They will hire people fresh out of driving school so this is a good place to get the 1-2 years driving experience that other companies require!
TruckDuo Thanks this.
